Default Hobbs switch and auxiliary fuel injector.

I've seen only one post where this is mentioned, but I've got a couple buddies telling me this is absolutely the way to go.

This won't help me if the pump is not supplying enough fuel. If my lean condition is due to the injectors being static and not the pump running out of steam, then this should help.

Anyway, has anyone tried it?

Where will the injector get its fuel supply? I feel like if the problem is the pump, teeing off the rail wouldn't work.

I figured I could install a Y off the fuel hose that feeds the rail.

How lean are you going? Have you tried re-tuning first?

I've seen 16's with the base tune and 20 psi. I just got a revision, but I have to fix my boost leak before I get a reliable A/F datalog. Currently I'm only seeing 18 psi, so the missing 2 psi could make a huge difference.

I read this thread wrong, you said if the problem is not the pump lol.. I wouldn't add another injector before you tune the car or upgrade the existing ones, a hobbs switch would hold the injector open, dumping fuel into the engine, the injector may also burn out due to the continuous duty. Woody on this forum added injectors with a megasquirt, which would be a better idea.. but I'd personally rather try to run the engine on standalone than add injectors at that point.

Ive seen something similar with the srt4. a buddy of mine that was running a hahn racecraft 20g setup was using something similar called a port fuelerHahn Racecraft - Automotive Turbosystems

if I remember correctly the extra injectors only kicked on after about 15psi when the fuel was needed.

If what you are looking at is similar Id say go for it unless your fuel pump is already maxed out.

It could be cool. Are you thinking those Saab starter injectors? Maybe one in each plenum runner?

What side of the motor is your W/B mounted?

I'm not certain I'd used an injector. I'd like the ability to adjust the A/F, so I was thinking about a solenoid and nozzle (similar to a nitrous setup). Therefore I could simply change a $5 jet. It worked on my nitrous setup, so it should work here.

I'm not sure if all this sounds ludicrous or not.

I have new manifold bolts on the way, so hopefully I'll see full boost this week sometime and finally determine if the fuel pump is supplying enough fuel. If it is, and I'm running an acceptable A/F, I'll still need to do something to solve the super rich A/F I'm seeing in first and second gear.
