Default My New Custom Wheel with Paddle shift

Well I had some down time earlier this weekend and finished my projects I started on my SRT. I installed a single guage pod I made and painted SSB, and Finally installed my custom steering wheel I hooked up to work with my whip! I wired in paddle shifters. I painted them SSB also, Now I dont have to take my hands off the wheel ... I will get some more pictures.

That looks fantastic, is the steering wheel from the C63 AMG?

How hard is it to wire the paddle shifters? I've always wanted to do it but I'd imagine it's very complicated.

John.

Thanks! The wheel is a R class style , and the paddles are wireless they are wired to a remote that operates a momentary relay to shift up and down. The hardest part for me was taking the shifter apart to get to the circuit board.

Nah, no need for that. He just wants to go fast in a straight line and needed a comfy place to put his hands while he shifts.

Although I have little use in manually shifting, that is pretty bad-a$$! Nice job!

You have little use in manual shifting in Germany? I didn't realize Germany was Flat.

What kind of delay in the down/up shift do you see since the paddle shifters are wireless? This would be really cool to do, especially if it could be modified to fit the stock crossfire wheel, but I don't know how I would feel about it if there was a significant delay from hitting the paddleshifter and the transmission actually down/upshifting.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the AMG tranny shifts at the perfect RPM. I occasionally manually downshift when I'm slowing down through the speed cams... but don't really "need" to. Now if this made the shifts come on a little quicker/firmer, than I'd be all over it. If you watch at the track, the car will nose-dive a little when shifting. But, manually shifting doesn't cure that.

Pretty awesome.... Consider productizing it. Would have to find lots of R-class steering wheels though. Wireless hookup with relays no delays in shifting. Twisty roads and track work would be much more enjoyable without hands leaving the wheel.
