The Paddle shifter install instructions are posted here ....

They are complete although there are a few more and/or better pics I hope to add.


The Paddle shifter thread https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...dle-shift.html was getting long and much of the discussion has more to do with the history of this mod than anything else.

So, I thought I would start a new thread with a PDF copy of the install instructions at it's beginning (so finding them will never be too hard).

I am hoping that in this thread I can answer any questions that are not made clear in the instructions and in turn update the instruction pdf when it seems appropriate.


I am continually looking for ways to make the kit easier to install and welcome and and all input.
Constructive feedback on the instructions and the Kit is always welcome either here or in PM.

Also, if you have already done the install and have any Tips you would like to share that you feel might help others, please post those here too!

I have updated the instructions by adding some more pictures and some more detail to some of the existing pictures along with some additional supporting text. Thanks to all who have worked with me on this project to make it better and easier to install.

While I never thought it could be done, a fellow modding pioneer proved that with moderate effort and determination, the AMG paddle switches can be plugged in to the Horn/paddle interface harness (incorrectly) with the connectors rotated 180 degrees.

This picture should make the proper orientation clear enough , and when I get a chance, I will add it to the instruction PDF.

And I thought 'I' was the only one that managed to plug them in upside down at first... lol
I studied your original pic several times and finally determined the correct orientation prior to final install though.

 

T30 appears to be the correct size for the driver to remove the airbag screws.


up till now, installers have told me that this was a T25 or T27 ... perhaps some are (T27) or perhaps they and I were just mistaken.

In, any case, A T30 should be tried first.



I will change the callout in the instructions with the next update.

I spent the last two days doing my install....FINALLY... I did the shifter mod on one day and the steering wheel on the second.... I was taking my time and taking lots of pics.....

First note... FOLLOW the instructions!! I found a new way to do the install and have the paddles NOT work..... READ and FOLLOW the instructions! My problem was that when I did the mod on the "K40" relay wiring, I cut the yellow wire and then plugged the two ends back together and the two ends on the new harness together... DOH!! Fortunately it was an easy fix and Chris didn't even bust my chops....
When plugged in right, everything works great!

Are you still offering a basic kit(module+pigtails) for the DIY guys?

You did a great job of this project! I recommend that this thread be a Sticky. Every time I come back to refer to it, I have difficulty finding it. Well at least this post will bring it back to the surface for a bit!

This is a must mod for the autostick. You will not be dissapointed.
However, I believe I am still the only Canadian with this mod......for now!

That is a god question, Mario.

When I first decided to offer this as a kit, I did suggest that I would also make the kit available as a "module only with pigtails" ; However, after working out the fitment in the Crossfire (with close to plug-n-play harnesses where possible) it turned out that the "complete kit" was the best in terms of install-ability and (perhaps more importantly : ) in terms of how much hand-holding I needed to provide for most installs.

I think you will find that there is more than enough "DIY" in this kit to satisfy

As far as making it a sticky, I don't know who decides that .... but it would make it easier to find

Yes, the kit is still available $195 (plus shipping and paypal fee) until the end of Feb, then there will be a modest increase (these kits take a lot of my time to put together ... price is going up to $245)

Hmmm I do have 2 Crossfires and possession is 9/10ths of the law.................do these work on a limited?

 

Not too sure when I'll get around to this, car is here and paddles are there. LOL
When do you plan to do it?

I'm working on the Nav install next, but I need to source some socket/pins that are for the reverse sensor etc.
I think if I buy a socket that is similar I can take it apart and use them.

Cargo cover is in now, the WW reservoir is repair is done so I'm working down the list bit by bit.

 

Dave, I'm thinking just as soon as the daytime temp. is 10 or better. I don't want the little plastic bits to snap off due to the cold. I'm gonna be off work the week of Good Friday, so I'm thinking it'll all get done then if not before. You know, you're always welcome to do the install here! ..........or if you like just leave the car with me......

 

So that's the first week of April, should be able to make that if you have not done it before then.
