Thought this was funny
It looks as though "mdbomgoat" is a bit mis-informed about our cars.Do you think he spanked an N/A using his 376 RWHP. He said it had a badge by its "little wing".
Little? Not an SRT wing.
Little? Not an SRT wing.
I noticed that little wing comment and thought the same thing.
I'm signing up right now for their silly little forum so I can argue with the moron from Eustis, FL with the godawful copper goat.
I used to belong to the GTO forum (got banned eventually). I had a 2005 GTO from April 2005 - April 2008 when I replaced it with an 08 S2000 which in turn got replaced with the SRT6 in April of 2011.
Some of the guys on the GTO forum are decent guys / true car nuts. But as the cars began to hit the used market at discount prices I began to see a lot of younger guys who didn't know much about the car showing up.
Anyway, having owned both cars, I can say that stock for stock they are pretty much dead even in a straight line. At 400/400 and 3,800 lbs the GTO was advertised as a 4.8 second 0-60 car. At 350/330 (real factory ratings) and 3,200 lbs the SRT6 is likewise a nominal 4.8 second 0-60 car. Where the differences lie is that with forced induction, the SRT6 can easily and cheaply be upgraded with a pulley and tune to something like the 400/400 GTO specs at 600 lbs less weight. The GTO on the other hand will never get 600 lbs lighter.
Also, the AMG 5 spd automatic in the SRT6 is really well mated to the engine. The Tremec T56 in my GTO was serviceable but far from the precise instrument that the 6 spd Aisin gearbox in the S2000 was. Given 2 equal drivers and 2 stock cars, I'd give the edge to the SRT6 simply because the AMG gearbox will be much more consistent.

Even if it was ten seconds slower, I think the Crossfire wins on "looks alone"..
I live in the home city of where GTO/Monaros were built, they are like a$$holes - everyone has one..

Well, at least there are a couple of sensible folks on there. But a lot of misinformed ones, too. A Crossfire (of any ilk) keeping up with an M6? Bull!
I love my SRT, but the M6 is ten times the car, in all areas.
LOL @ the guy with the 370 RWHP, 4,000-pound orange goat that thinks his car is unbeatable, that's cute. I'd love to see him line up next to Jim, Mimi, etc.

Spud is right on. I almost pulled the trigger on a goat, but hated the transmission. It just wouldn't shift to suit me. Nice accelleration, but hated the tranny. The SRT6 would win hands down from the hole shot in my opinion. Then the race would be on. Most just don't know the difference from an N/A to an SRT. I still tell people the today, just look for the wing. They don't know...
The comments being made by the GTO guys are half wrong and the other half retarded.
If a Chrysler dealership doesn't know what a Crossfire is, you can't expect people who buy butt-ugly cars to know.
Also,
I'm glad our forum doesn't have the advertising posts like that one. It screws up the flow of the thread.

I honestly expected better than this from this forum. I've lurked here for years, but never registered until now.
376 rear wheel hp in a GTO should have zero issues spanking a stock srt6, as that is somewhere in the realm of 440-450 crank hp. Properly driven, a GTO with that hp level will run mid to low 12s all day long. The problem though is that most GTO owners can't drive. Also when you drive a GTO, everything about the srt6 is "little," including the wing.
You mean brazen orange metallic. It's actually a one year only color and is highly coveted by most that have any sense of taste at all. Why argue when you can race him?
+1
opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one and most of them stink.
First: The guy talking about the m6 is an idiot. M6>>>srt6 or GTO.
Second: GTOs weight 3725 not 4000
Third: I fail to see any place were he/she stated anything about being unbeatable, cocky sure, unbeatable, no.
Fourth: Instead of defaulting to the stereotypical ricer antics of, "yeah well I know of someone faster..." why don't you yourself line up with said individual? Let the cars do the talking.
For incorrect comments see the above quote and there are quite a few more I didn't quote. And as far as putting a srt wing on a non srt vehicle, then referring to others as "retarded," kettle calling the pot black are we?
And if either of them, or any srt6 in the world, were to line up against track day, t-bones, or magnum-GTO, or about 3 dozen other gto's they'd be left shitting bricks. How many srt6s are running 8s at 155+ in the quarter mile?
Rule of thumb - there is ALWAYS someone faster. Period. That's why it's best to let the cars do the talking.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program....keep makin'em faster!! Regardless of make or model, if dropping the hammer doesn't kill you, it ain't fast enough!!

Unless the driver can pilot his GTO via remote, the 37XX car will need a driver. Assuming he's the typical slightly overweight American, he's ~200 pounds. Also, keep in mind that any published weight of the vehicle is a DRY curb weight. Once you've added fluids, it's a different story.
3,725 + 200 + vehicle fluids = ~4,000 pounds
So yes, I'll take my 500+ pound weight advantage and equal horsepower and my racing experience, and glady run him. Preferably at a track, where we will keep his temper off the street and I'll have a nice printout of the run for posterity's sake. You said he can run "mid to low 12's IF he's a good driver". Well, check my sig... batter up!
What type of Crossfire do you own, by the way? Or did you just sign up to give us a moral lesson?
Cheers,

No doubt a GTO wannabe. I'm not far from Eustis, FL and I'd be happy to jam his 'very desirable' babyshit orange hunk of Aussie junk into the pavement wherever the jackass would like to run. In fact, no GTO of any kind has been any competition so far...
Hell, I'd run his loudmouth *** with the C63 if it'd make him feel better losing to an all Mercedes.

After some extremely brief research, I've been shown otherwise. For someone who has "lurked for years" you either have a closet love affair for us, or you're lying through your teeth. Note in the attached screenshot, you're not exactly being an ambassador for respect... but you register here to jump on a high-horse? GTFO.
Go back to your regularly scheduled copper goat worship, troll.
Shucks, I took your word for it and assumed you're a good guy.

Clearly we're a motivating bunch...
Of his 12 posts in 4 years on his home forum, he spent one on us, and then felt motivated to come over here and register so he could "set us all straight".
I'm flattered, honestly.

One helluva first post. Welcome to the forums?

Secondarily, did you REALLY think that I thought you wouldn't click the link already posted here? I knew damned well everyone here would read that. That is WHY I posted it, so I could steal your ovine! Little did I realize just how easy it would be to do so! Next time don't get so worked up...lol
Also nowhere did I state anything about being respectful, I did however decide to leave my personal opinion on the looks of yalls cars on the GTO forum and not post it here. That will continue to be the case.
and you are congratulating him on what precisely? Being able to click a link, read, and erroneously assume things? You have sooooo much to aspire to!
See above post!
Cheers!
