Default Would you call THAT a race???

So I get the issues with my 6 ironed out and take it out for this 20 mile loop that hits a few hot spots in town.
At a signal, I line up with a Impala. Light turns green and he floors it. I only give it enough gas to stay with his door. His cars making all this noise and my foot is only half-way down. I'm thinking, man! This is pathetic.
Does this happen to you guy's? Some kid in an Accord think'n he's all that n gonna show you what?
I'm not into street racing but it does put the 6's power into perspective.

Careful, might get the Impala community in an uproar ;-)

You can't tell me the Impala group is trolling this forum. We just got the GTO people out of here.

Yes. Happens all of the time.

But, here in Alabama, it's mudder trucks with little to no exhaust equipment that "'gotta show ya'".

I get it all the time, but in particular one jerk in a Nissan 370z..

Anyone know what Nissan 370z's go like? There are Road Tests on the Internet, but the Quarter Mile times and 0-60mph tests differ substantially..

Would a Stock SRT-6 take a stock 370Z?

Yep happens to me all the time down here in Mobile. For some reason they think that loudness is proportional to speed...

Happens all the time here too. I only have a N/A but lifted trucks and ricers are a dime a dozen and all want to prove they have what it takes to do something stupid apparently. Im usually like you.... half throttle just to see what they got, keeping up with them and usually backing off the throttle around the speed limit. Occasionally Ill have a C5 or a mustang GT line up to me. Sometimes I get lucky, most of the time I dont. In any case Im off the throttle before I get to much over the speed limit, and watch them get to 100+ swerving through traffic.

I usually get the kid with the coffee can muffler who thinks that muffler gives him an extra 200 HP on his 4 banger.

I don't have any stats but isn't there a great difference between something like an Impala and a 370Z?
Like a Mustang, I wouldn't want to tangle with one.

JHM2K is modded up pretty good. I'ld imagine there's little he can't do as long as the tires stick.

Hahahaha no a 370Z is good for high 12's if you install a very good driver. Seeing as most drivers aren't, majority of the 370's run low 13's. In the corners, it gets more interesting as the suspension geometry of the Z34 is quite brilliant. The only real achilles heel of the Z34 is brakes... even with the upgraded Brembo package, they're prone to overheat. We have a significant torque advantage and a 300# weight advantage. Providing you get a good hook, the Z34 is your oyster. Don't attempt to race them in a Limited, though... you'll have a bad time.

x2 on that last statement, hahaha. My 12.3 was run on streets with a 1.8 60' time... but that was a prepped race track and I had scrubbed the tires with a warmup spin. My car is strong but certainly not invincible. That being said, I haven't lost a challenge yet on the Mexican highway system.

2009 Nissan 370Z - Specs and Test Data - First Test - Motor Trend

^^^ There's the data on a stock 2009...

The one I raced was a murder... as in, bus length(s). But he had only exhaust.

Stock 370z's run 13-13.3 similar times to a stock SRT-6. Would be a good race but it looks like the SRT-6 trap speed are a few mph higher stock, so on the street I would give the edge to the SRT-6.
Really don't want to tangle with a mustang?
The new(2011) 5.0's are high 12 second cars which is very good stock, so they would beat a stock SRT-6.
But any mustang before the the 2011's are mid 13 second cars stock. So unless you are talking about Shelby's,Cobra's, Boss's or new 5.0's which in total are less then 5% of the mustangs on the road you are scared of something for no reason.

I drove a 2011 Mustang GT rental for a couple days in Santa Barbara. I wouldn't want to mess with one.

Meh, just add an intake/tune and you will have no problems with a 5.0. I surprised the hell out of a buddy when I ran away from him on the highway. I was just chuckling.
