Default SRT on the track

I am new to this site and new owner of 05 SRT. I have a trackday scheduled for this Monday 6/18 at NJMP. Track Time 4 Cars. Any tips for XF on the track.

Check your tire pressure (40+lbs is a good start for a track day), make sure your brake fluid levels are on par, check you belt tensions and torque your wheels before and after each session.

you will need a brake upgrade as you will find out...they do pretty well stock, but after putting in the high performance brake fluid, some new metal brake lines, and ceramic pads, you will even better prepared next time out. To me, night and day difference. Have fun, welcome aboard...

hmmm....interesting what would the "new metal brake lines" do?
I presume the ones OEM are metal...what kind of new metal?

I do recall them using copper in the "good old days" but they phsed them out in pref for steel 'cause they knocked against things, pinched, DIYers are attracted to refabricate etc. and they wore too easily.

Confused
Last I checked, copper was a metal as well. Perhaps, he's referring to a larger diameter or a special coating or something.

no - the inference from the prevous post refered to a "new metal". Just wondering what that "new metal" would be and how it differs from the "old metal" presumerably the OEM metal..

Doc's talking about braided stainless steel brake lines. Safety you know. A freak rock can cut a rubber brake line. I've seen it happen and the guy ended up at 100 mph with no brakes, rolled the car trying to scrub off speed before hitting the tires. Freak things do happen from time to time, don't let it be you.

For your first track day the instructor won't allow you to push too hard and will be asking you about the temperature gauge, how the brakes feel etc. You should be alright bone stock for the first time out. The rear tires can be left at stock pressures or less, but the fronts need to be at at least 40 PSI cold. They will stick better at a lower pressure but unfortunately if you don't have lots of pressure in them they won't last long. A 225 tire on a 7 1/2" rim is the reason. Take everything out of the car especially the snap in carpets. No noise from stuff rolling around in the glove box, under the seat, etc. You don't want any leaks (oil, water), wear long pants and long sleeve shirt. (cotton) SA2005 helmet minimum, well, sometimes M2005 is allowed (Motorcycle) but I prefer a SA helmet. Pay attention and have fun. If the track bug bites hard start a thread asking about the best bang for the buck track mods. I'll tell you now that the "safety mods" should be done first. Stainless brake lines, racing brake fluid, at least ATE Blue and a brake pad upgrade.
