Where to mount the O2 bung for Zeitronix lambda?
Hi!
Does somebody have some photos on how and where you mounted your O2 bung.
Doy we have to take out the downpipe? Are there any other solutions?

just ahead of the oem O2 sensor on the passenger exhaist manifold. my shop used a small starter drill bit with grease on it. then the larger hole bit also with grease on it to catch any metal particles. after the the bung is welded in place with a dummy sensor to keep slag from getting on the threads. finally the sensor is installed.
all this was done with the mani still in the car with ample room to work.

I am going to drop my pipe down to do mine....need to weld a bung into the y-pipe for another installation at the same time....so might as well have it down to where I know I get all the shavings out. You can hold the bung in place by using an old spark plug screwed into it. Keeps slag out and is easier to hold while welding...
figure to add about 6 to 8 hrs to the job to drop the mani. motor mount needs to be removed and you will curse getting out of bed when you wrestle this biatch! dont say you guys werent warned! leave the mani installed wrap it up in 45 min.
because the wideband O2 goes before the oem narrowband in the exhaust mani. its closest to the engine and farthest place away from the cats. you have less than 6" from the exhaust flange to the cat to work in and you want the 02 sensor as far away precat as you can get because the heat degrades them over time. that only leaves the exhaust mani
its possible to do it but thats way to close to the cat. the extreme heat will degrade the sensor well before its time
on the stock exhaust system, put it just before the rear passenger o2 sensor in the downpipe, the sensor is not rated to be within 12" from the head, this puts it post cat on the stock system but ti is still the best place to put it IMO. you will want to get all the shavings out so they do not get stuck beating against the rear cat when you drive. you want the sensor angled to 9-10 o'clock position so that condensation does not puddle on the tip.
I havent searched other threads in this forum - but was wondering why go wideband.
I can partially see why from this....
Silicon Chip Online - Wideband Oxygen Sensor Controller Mk.2, Pt.1
and this...

Are the mods to just one exhaust - simply to report lambda or mV for personal monitoring?
Or have people actually reprogrammed the ECU to read the new sensor and adjust AFR accordingly. ie: overiding the original O2 sensors
I'm thinking if the later - you'd be better replacing both side Narrow Bands with Widebands and "teaching" the ECU accordingly?
When you refer to a bung I'm thinking a "threadolet" - yeh?
I'm also guessing the thread specs will depend on your choice of wideband sensor or, is there a prefered "weapon of choice" or simply limited applicable weapons.
PS - according to Carsoft74 Live data - my pre cat O2 sensors are jumping all over the place (150mV-800mV within a second) - surely the ECU cant make adjustments based upon this. PSS - I used to have Left and right O2 sensor fault codes - but cleared them 3 weeks ago and they havent come back.
So I'm currently assuming my sensors are aok....

Thanks Rob.... I need to get this done next week, so post cat on passenger side, 9 or 10 o'clock position.... I also need an aluminum 3/8 npt bung for another project...Rob? LOL.... have anything like that?
