Default Noise from rear of car

Helping a freind trouble shoot a niose from the back of his car. Car is a limited, but can't see how that makes a difference. The clunk occurs from the back of the car when you let off the breaks after a hard breaking event. No other time, only when the breaks are released after hard breaking.

Any Ideas?

Maybe there is a movement between the pinion gear and the ring gear. Just a thought. Mine did have a larger movement then it should making them slaming to each other when accelarating or braking.

Could be as simple as rear shocks.
You stretch them to the limit under severe braking, and they may be just clunking back into the normal operating range ........

( who's got an N/A around there, I thought you only allowed 6's )

Turns out that it was a binding upper sway bar bushing. Made a heck of a racket, lubricated both sides and the noise was totally gone. I've never heard a bushing make that much of a clunk noise before.

Alaxfire, just some one I met at a local gas station. Has a limited and needed some help with this issue. I recommended the forum, he may be on soon.

lubrication is unfortunately not going to be enough. Save some cash and prepare for them to be changed. common error on mercedes.

Now that we know what to change, no big issue.

I have been having a heck of a noise as well and can't figure it out. When the sway bar ranges up and down there is a "creaking" noise. Is creaking the same or similar to "clunk" noise? I can hear it while driving from inside and out side when jacking the suspension up and down. It started after the sway bar was contactin ghte upper control arm and pinching it up against the body seam after I lowered it. Since then I have adjusted the sway bar links out so the sway bar doesn't contact the upper control arm and took a grinder to the body seam to create a channel for the sway bar to ride in without contact. This is when the noise started. Hard to believe it would be a bushing making this noise as you guys pointed out.

Thats how it started for this guy and then it got louder. I used some Mobile 1 10-40 in a small oil can with a flexible tip. Lube up all of the rubber connection points and see if it clears your noise.

Now to find where to buy a set of these? Any better links to ensure we get the part we are expecting than the following;

05099082aa

BUSHING. Stabilizer Bar, Sway Bar. for 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE SRT6, 3.2L V6 Supercharged, 5-Speed Automatic MB Roadster (05099082AA)

Dealer? Mercedes or chrysler?
