Default Gear Box shaking when accelerating?

Hey everyone, starting off today everything was fine, and i decided to kinda accelerate a little in first gear. I had my hand on the shift **** and the **** was shaking and felt like it was going to move up into the 'N' position. And sometimes the shifts didnt register and i would wind up hitting the rev limiter. Once in 2nd gear it wasnt as bad and in 3rd 4th and Drive it wasnt bad at all. Maybe something is loose, but i dont know though.

Any Thoughts?

An old trick to check mounts is to put it in 1st, step hard on the brake and give it gas. See if you feel or hear anything unusual.

Old trick.. back when we we're three footed drivers? LOL. Should be able to raise the hood and rev it up and see if the engine jumps around shouldn't you?

Yes, but the engine needs to be under a load - with the hood up, set the E-brake and press the brake pedal. Put it in gear and slowly bring up the RPMs while watching the left side of the engine (you can see it from the driver's seat). If you see it raise up more than an inch or so, your left mount is probably shot. My shifter was pulling forward when I would put my foot in it and when I checked my engine mount, the left side of the engine jumped up what seemed like 6 inches - scared that crap out of me.

Took mine to a dealer to have them install the mounts since it was still under warranty, but the bill (had I not had a warranty) would have been around $850. My right mount was in good shape, but since it was under warranty, the dealership replaced both for me so they would have the same amount of time and wear.

Hope this helps..

RL
