Talking My nose is too short...

Going crazy but its a short trip.

I have an odd smell in the crossfire that is starting to bug me. I can t place it and it wont go away. Here are the details as I see them.

Its is very present at highway speeds with the windows open?? and if closed more present. See A/C below.

Have left the door and trunk open for a week in the garage and no change???

I have pulled and sniffed everything I can get my nose into, nothing seems like it but the trunk latch comes closest?? Whhhat?

Pulled trunk patches over the tail lights, nothing much there, verified that the vents were operational in the rear of the wheel wells????

Closed the dash air vents, no change and they dont seem to be it. Running on outside air does not make it more or less apparent.

Notice it when the motor is off, strong when getting in when windows were closed for an hour or days.

Cant place it and its on with and without the air conditioner operating..............

Under hood with hot or cold engine, there is no smell there that reminds me of the problem.

Smells a bit like a WARM wax, or armor all, which I dont use and dash does not smell to me. Not the smell of the wick of a candle, and not a scented candle, just warm to hot wax sorta....

Not a dead mouse as Iam familiar with that one.

Its almost like a taste or an odor that has both senses going??? You can tell that there is something in the air after driving for 1/2 hour, it does not fade or allow you to get used to it.

Rational thoughts??? Woody

I've seen where a couple of french fries left on the floor under the seat can create a very unique smell,
and it permeates the car. You'll smell it with the windows open or closed, though should be less with
the windows down. Left in a closed car for a few days, the smell can be noxiously strong.

I am going to assume it is not the sweet smell of Antifreeze.

I've heard other crossfire owners complain of an interior "off gasing" smell that they described as burnt crayons. My car has smelled of this on rare occasions.

Do you have cats in your neighborhood? I've noticed the smell of cat urine is very similar to transmission fluid. Plus if you left your window open, you may have invited other felines to leave their "signature" as well. Or it could be a non-terminal repeating phantasm, or a Class Five full roaming vapor. Who you gonna' call?

HA! Ever since I had my gall bladder removed, "Off Gassing" has been a serious problem. Anyone want to compare scars (LBJ anyone?).

I've noticed a bit of a crayon smell too. Only seem to notice it when the windows have been up on a warm day. I just assumed it was something to do with interior materials. The very first thing I noticed about my Crossfire was how it smelled like BMW's. Figured European sourced materials smell different than US.

I noticed it in the back of my roadster while loading groceries today. Seems like it is coming from the plastic around the trunk light. Probably a result of the heat from the bulb. Mine is a really faint smell that is hardly noticable. Cant get into the cabin because of the inherent characteristic of the roadster.

Yes, off gasing of the interior plastics more noticeable when the car has been sitting closed up on a sunny hot day.

did you check passenger foot well? there is a tube back there that supplies cool air to the power amp. possible source for odd smell being pumped in to cabin.

Actually that fan works the opposite way. It draws air from the cabin to the RCM and other components in there.
