Default rcm wires culprit?

what's up guys,Been having a problem with the crossfire for a about a month. The car keeps dying on me hwy or streets it just shuts off, lights stay on and the fan usually turns on if you leave the key in the ignition.I usually get out of the car and push down on the rcm connectors until the fan turns off and i hear a clicking sound from the throttle body. When that happens i can go restart the car no problem until it happens again within a couple miles.I replaced the rcm with a new one and still have the same issue,I checked to see if I have power at each wire in the connectors and they do.But today it died leaving my driveway,so i grabbed my test light and all the wires did have power except for one red wire in the connector right behind the 40 amp air pump fuse.Any help would be appreciated,I didrent want to take it to a shop but im tired of the car dying, and i love this car.

Damn that right there is a mess. I don't mean to be rude but someone hacked the crap out of the wire harness to the RCM. Instead of those solder joints you should have plugs
FWIW the RCM issue was related to the left most set of connections

I believe those are plugs with the caps off so he can access the terminals to measure voltage ...
( But I could be wrong )

sounds like one of the points are cracked ,by look of things. may need to take the time and clean this up and see if you can find the short, See if there are any other Crossfire owners out NV in your area that may help you out ,

Alaxfire your right I broke the covers off to check for power, osofast I do think there is a short or cracked plugs because the car throws a misfire without codes when I hit bumps on the road then shuts off,it's a electric auto shop now hopefully they can find the problem.

Hi Desert

I see you last posted in Oct - did you manage to resolve it?

I have been having this issue for a few months now - I re-soldered the RCM circuit board solder joint, but issue still occurs exactly like yours.

Hey Dom

Do you have any engine lights?mine never did but got a misfire while driving.I took my car to a Mercedes Indy shop and they did not find any faults,So I decided to tackle the ECM I got a used one on eBay,had it unlocked, the Indy shop had my car for 3 days and could not code it,they told me to take it to chrysler after I visited both dealerships they both would not do it so liability reasons. They told me I could buy it through them for 3400 and 200 programming fee I declined,I moved my car into the garage without the ECM and the fan started humming just like when the ECM was in the car,I found a mobile diagnostics guy that said he can do it but for about $450.

Talking Re: rcm wires culprit?

It Sounds like some of the connections are cracked and intermittant. It would be good to reflow the solder connections in that module. Someone here might be able to do it for you. I could but my schedule would take at least 2 weeks of sitting around time, gots many many things going at once.

I see that you were talking about the RCM then you started talking the ECM, that confuses me, It appeared that the issue was by the 40 amp fuse area?? Wdy
