Tensioner Pulley Noise
So I just replaced my SC pulley. After the first test drive, now my tensioner pulley is making noise when in gear. What do you think? It has never had problems before and I probably pulled it six times while making the change. I did also install a new belt.
Hopefully it isn't all of a sudden going out because $200 for that pulley will suck.

Has anyone tried the Goodyear or Dayco tensioners? Any good?
I'm also thinking about reinstalling the factory belt and see if that helps. Even at 7 years old and 35k miles it didn't have any noticable cracking.

There you are, yes the other pulleys work, I got them from Rob when I designed the pulley saver. Might be time to get that instead and kill two birds with .... Woody

Well I thought about the pulley save kit, but how could I tell if just replacing the tensioner pulley would work instead of the whole tensioner assembly?
There was no noise before so it makes sense to me the pulley bearing wouldn't go out all of a sudden, but with a new belt and different tension, maybe the tensioner spring is jumping around causing noise.
What do you think?
BTW, the Needswings belt is a direct factory replacement right? So it should be causing more tension if anything. Accept now there is a smaller SC pulley so maybe not enough tension

When it is in park, the noise isn't there. When I shift to drive or reverse the noise starts. Its almost as if when I put it in gear the pulley has less tension on it and sounds like its flapping a little. If I rev it at all the noise goes away.
After driving it for a while yesterday, the noise wasn't as noticable when I pulled into the garage. I'm hoping maybe the new belt just needs to break in.
If it keeps happening, I'll take the belt off and spin it by hand to see how it feels as suggested.

I have the same problem after going to a smaller sc pulley and a belt from needwings. Meh03 did you find a resolution?
I really don't want to spend $400 on the correct tensioner but I'm afraid that a tensioner not designed or a supercharged engine will not provide enough tension to prevent belt slippage. Maybe with a psk it works but I don't have a psk.
