Default SRT6 Front Bumper Question

Hi All,

I just received my much awaited SRT6 front bumper from the dealership, freshly painted and awaiting installation on my 2005 N/A Crossfire Roadster.

Can anyone tell me the difficulty level of putting the new bumper on my XF? I did a search on here to see if there was some sort of 'how to' or quick explanation, but I didn't see one.

Any input would be appreciated! LOVE the look of that lip on the SRT bumper and can't wait to get it on my car!

(And to be clear, I don't want the dealership installing it. My fiance works on cars all the time, but he wasn't sure if there are any tricks to installing it, or if it is pretty simple).

Thank you!

No too difficult if you are handy with tools.......headlights need to come out and the bottom splash pan needs to come out first then there are several bolts behind where the headlight was and 2 on the front behind the grill inserts also the 1's for the inner fender liners. About 2 1/2 hrs if you have never done this before. jusy be careful not to scratch the newly painted bumper. Alignit up correctly and you'd never know it didn't come from the factory with it.

Agreed, I managed to do it quite easily without removing the headlights and I'm all thumbs!

Me too on both.

I have actually seen advice in other threads related to headlights to remove the bumper cover for easy access to the headlights.

They are all right, it isn't difficult, I just took mine off, took about 45 min.. But it is much easier if you have the right tools, you need the star bits(torx) , a 9 in extension, 8 and 10 mm sockets and if you are lucky to have a 10mm variable bend ratchet wrench, it will be very easy. Good luck, show some pics when you're done.

onehundred80's post #3 in this thread pretty well covers it, although the manual seems to leave out removing the 2 front wheels where is says "Raise and support the vehicle".
PUT IT ON JACK STANDS !!!
This can be accomplished by using the rear jack points and jacking the car high enough to get the stands under the front jack points.

I found that the wheels don't need to be removed and the car doesn't need to be jacked up.

While true, it does however make it a whole lot easier to get to the stuff in the fender well.

I do not think that i could remove the splash pan at ground zero, much less everything else. I use 2 Harbor Freight jacks, then put the jackstands under the lower "A" arms and keep the jacks in position for safety plus 4 rear wheel chocks and E-brake. I was an X-ray tech and have seen many tragic incidents of working under cars without proper precautions.
