A belated WELCOME TO THE FORUM !!!!!

This is my daily driver, 30 city miles round trip. It has 76k on it. And trust me, my eyes are wide open. Old car oil change $40, new car $130. Old car tires $200 a pair, new car $500 (getting new rears on Saturday). There are a lot of minor things wrong with it. I don’t care. I’m in heaven every time I touch the accelerator. It’s the car I always wanted. I just didn’t know it.
Oil changes : watch autozone, Advance, WalMart etc for specials on Mobil1 0-40, you can many times get the 5 quart jug with a free filter for $25 - $35.
Buy 2 of them as you will need 8 quarts.
You can also get a 'top-sider' oil extraction tool so you can do it all by just opening the hood.

Tires : you can get a pair of Nankang rears from discounttiredirect for $344.00 total.
fronts would be $308. Shipping is free, you would have to pay mounting and balancing somewhere.

It's kind of old, but, I've seen a thousand bumper stickers on Toyota Prius's saying, "Free Tibet!" so.............

Another question. The rear tires are trashed so I'm getting fresh meat today. I ordered the Falkens since that's what's on the front. My impression from reading here is that these are sort of medium quality tires, not the greatest for performance or longevity, but adequate. Is that accurate? My other choices in the same price range were Kumho and Hankook. Again, my SRT-6 is a daily driver so reliability and safety are first priority.

By the way, thank you very much for all your replies so far!

I have Falkens all around.

Drove them for 6 months or so last year. They show minimal wear. But, I don't drive them that hard.

I think they grip rather well and love the tread design. I would probably buy them again.

Also, FYI, I have not driven them in the snow. And only in the rain when I'm caught in it.

Poor girl. She has wondered into "modding land" with a bunch of old gear heads. The tires are as good as any other tires you will find. Unless you are thinking of some high speed passes above 140 you are good to go. Welcome aboard.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-srt6-vin.html

SRT-6.com also has a registry if you'd like to list your car there as well - several of us have done that and the owner of the site (FUBU) is very knowledgeable about these cars.

Enjoy the car (as I know you will) and use this forum for all of your concerns about the car BEFORE consulting a dealership. These people know more about these cars than any dealership and the information is FREE If you can't find what you're looking for, post it up - we're here to help

Enjoy!!

Many thanks for those kind words. I am adding her to the gallery as we speak. Have a nice easter everyone!

Honestly, I've already learned so much poking around here and you guys are great. The car rides and holds the road so much better with the new rubber and I'm driving it more confidently as a result. Took it on a canyon road for the first time this afternoon, sunny and warm with the windows down. This just keeps getting better and better.

I love that color. I wasn't able to find one when I was looking. My black roadster is my "touring" car now even though she carries a few mods....the blue coupe is the play car now...keep driving and keep asking...enjoy the ride, but sooner or later the usual gremlins will pop up. But, that happens on all cars...it's just not many know how to fix these...

As mentioned in my original post, this car came with a full set of gremlins already installed. Now that the tires are out of the way, let's talk about the locking function. I have to manually lock the driver door from the outside with the key (not the remote), then go to the passenger side, open the door, depress the button and close the door to lock that side. The hatch and gas door don't lock at all. I know the system is pneumatic. What is the most likely source of the problem and will I need to visit the dreaded dealership for a fix?

What are in the trunk is likely the problem based on other posts. Do a search on here and I'm sure you'll find a lot of useful information. From what I understand there will be a leak with water running into the rear cabin and it will mess up the pneumatic system. Good luck

something in the central locking system. I doubt the dealer will be any help, but you never know. Dave, 180, as he is known on here has a lot of the info posted so you can click on the repair manual to trace down your problem...I am on duty now, so I am not at home to look it up....but that is where I would start to look...
