Pricing opinions on '05 SRT6
What would be a fair price for my SRT6 I have put in nearly $20,000 in the car total and don't want to lose too much money as I am trying to start a family which is the reason I am selling the car.
It has the works as far as aftermarket, but if any of you think that with an EC S/C pulley and Tune as well as a TCU tune, aftermarket intercooler, pulley saver kit, new altenator, new plugs and wires, new tires and rear drivers side rim, Aftermarket catch oil can, and is undergoing an engine rebuild at 52,000 miles. Is $18,500 too much to ask I have put in far more than that for the price of the car, parts, and labor but would really like to hear your opinions. I don't want to take a major financial hit on a car being relativly young.

Cars are like women, it's a rare one that you get out what you put in. I couldn't tell you what a fair price would be but I purchased an 05 SRT6 for $11,500 just 2 months ago with 47k on it. Doing the mods myself is going to be priceless.
I could also tell you that I bought my 04 Limited for $38,800 and put almost every mod I could find on it. I'll never get close to that amount back, maybe not even the cost of the mods.
When I sold my Jeep years ago after just 300 miles on a new engine I didn't even get back the cost of the engine ... but I really needed the money as a young father so "poof", a loss.
Life, women and cars ... is all about that "flush" sound. my 2¢

Well............not to rain on your parade, but I've had my graphite coupe, with somewhat similar mods, and 36kmiles up for sale for $13500, and only one serious inquiry...................
Guess it's a bad time to try and sell these cars ..............

But I think your right there may be no avoiding a loss as the car nearest to it online is priced at 16,000 but it is still stock
Thank you.
That is unfortunate my thing is hopefully after the engine rebuild is complete I hoping the value will increase, but judging from your experince I have very high hopes.
Hey...........maybe I should try match.com ................
As I was buying mine I thought about the previous owner driving it off the new car lot at $45K. He got trade-in on it for sure but for what I paid it was only 1/4 of what he probably bought it for.
I'm not trying to start anything but if I was looking to buy a car and saw one with all those mods and having an engine rebuild with only 52,000 miles on it would make me run the other way.
You have a great car in great shape and the price is good.
You need to expand your marketing research. I can tell you from experience you won't get much help on the forum with a WIW question. Put it on craigslist and set a price. No offers? Set a lower price. Still no offers? You have learned more from that little exercise than from 20 forums.
Best wishes.

I completely agree, why was it rebuilt?
Not a plus to me either.
I had mine for sale when it had only 17000 miles on it......nearly the same mods + headers....nearly two years ago. The highest offer I got was $18.5......and I was throwing in the luggage, car cover, and all the original parts.
I'm really interested in a couple of the SRTs here, including the modded graphite. Its just scary when a car is modded. You have to look at it from a buyers standpoint. No warranty, German parts, mods, you know where I'm going. I've been privy to friends who bought modded cars and they all had problems, every single one of them. Some for big money.
I am considering the graphite coup against my better judgement because it seems the seller has been upfront and very nice. But there are several things which are bugging me.
Basically, you'll never get back what you put into it. That stuff should be for your fun. The buyer will never give you what you put in. I have taken a loss on several vehicles over the years including a couple of highly modified Porsche's which I took a bath on. But while I had them I had a ball. Basically your mods for your entertainment.
Now to think about what I'm going to do.

Our hand built AMG engines are just getting broke in @ 50k miles.
Very anxious to hear why it failed and needs to be rebuilt. WTHeck happened?
The rebuilt engine and mods would be a red flag for me. I just purchased a stock srt with less than 2k miles for 19k. I don't anticipate putting 20k in mods. More like 3k. You may need to eat the cost of rebuilding the engine or keep and enjoy car if possible. I'm sure it is a great car.
Take a moment to think, deep breath. If you want a premium price for the car than get the car in front of people willing to do so. That means some events in the surrounding areas where you can talk one to one with a possible buyer, go over the car, explain in detail what has been done. Posting on forums is ok, but you are talking to a group of people that either already own one, or know what the real value of the car is. Posting all the modifications in a online sale post will do more to tell the buyer move on this one has trouble written all over it, because they are not car people, they are looking for a new car and hopefully one that is trouble free.
Now reality....
Assume the car is in good shape on the outside and inside...what is the going value for trade, dealer sale, and private sale. That is your range for the base car.
Next take what you spent in parts and divide in half, now in half again. That is the value of the parts give or take a few bucks.
Labor and time have no value for used cars, especially if that time was done outside of the factory or factory contractor. Remember this is not a collector item...at least not yet. If it had been your mods need to be part of a restoration and recognized by key player to be significant to the value of the car.
I know it is painful...I know as I consider from time to time selling my SRT6 with all the custom additions.
The base price range is 13 - 15k for an excellent sample with 13k representing a good trade in value. That means you should be able to go to any car buying service, CarMax, ect and get that assuming the car is running and in great shape. 15k is private sale.
52,000 miles is not bad at all and while there was an issue, as long as the motor rebuilder does a good job you should be fine...just be transparent as to what happened with the buyer.
There are a number of high mileage cars out there I am sure. I just hit 140,000 and outside of replacing the cats and a starter, I have not had any big issues. So the car has many more NJ miles left in it assuming the rebuild goes according to spec and the root cause is addressed properly.

Reading the thread you previously posted I am sure that it alone would be enough anyone to stop anyone on this forum from making an offer on this car. Sorry but it's the truth.
As the problems came after your mods, peeps could/would/should be worried if they have the same mods even though they may not have caused the problem.
