hmmm...it might be a buzz box...but the new AMG A-class takes a 2L into our territory
Well, before buying my used Benz E-350, we went and looked at the CLA and the "come on" price of 30K. That is $30K stripped. If you want anything on it, it is extra. By the time my wife and I added up the features we wanted, the car was pushing $48K. So, we bought the used 4-Matic w/ 40K miles on it. Love the car. Does great on these winter roads. But for $48K I would buy something else, fast or not. It is a small Benz to boot.
If you knew anything about Evo's and 4G63s you would not be saying that. 4G63 is an amazing engine that's been around forever capable of easily handling north of 400whp. There are Evo VIII/IXs running 10's on stock turbos! Mercedes is finally doing it right, just shows you that turbo's are far superior to parasitic superchargers
. Stock Evo IX has hit 12.8 in 1/4 mile and with bolt ons will put out more whp than our SRT with all the bolt-ons from a 2L four banger. Evo IX - tune, manual boost controller, turbo back exhaust = 350+ whp. I'm curious to see if the 2L mercedes has any tuning potential, I'm sure it would benefit from a 3" turbo back exhaust and possibly an intake, also we need to get a dyno baseline to see how it stacks up against our cars.
Said before but piezo injectors > direct injection > necessary for real boost in a gas engine > 200 hp/liter.
This is completely false.
Which ? 2.0L turbo Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine or that to reach 26.1 psi boost on pump gas you must have direct injection ? Or that the 8.6:1 compression is needed to open up the combustion chamber & pack enough fuel/air in ?
Did I need to say "on pump gas" and "with 500 cc per cyl" or did I need to go into combustion chamber design and flame front propagation?
Or shall we talk about how the undersquare design reduces flame travel ? Could not find mention in a quick look but suspect the rods are long for a 2 liter 4.
Certainly for a 50cc engine at 14,000 rpm 200 hp/liter is easy, can even do it with a carb, meaningful torque is harder but the -45 is only turning 6,700 rpm (suspect 400 bhp might need 7,500).

Well browsing the MB forums the other day, checking out what the 45 AMG guys dyno at stock, apparently Mercedes was underestimating once again... Renntech pulled 340whp out of one STOCK... And tune's from Eurocharged are already pulling in 40whp........... I would say this platform has some serious potential.
If u read the article and look over to the side the 1/4 miles numbers aren't much different from us at all it might have more power yet only runs a 13.3 thanks to being all wheel drive and we do a 13 stock and the 0 to 60 time is about the same as us too ,so u would say its a drivers race and u can't beat a auto with prefect shifts every time

Please don't start on the auto thing... Some like consistency when pressing one pedal, some accept the challenge of two and a stick in a straight line. Some don't mind being robbed of hp, some do... The only auto I have ever, and will ever own will be my wife's. In fact, even with my heavy motor, I'm still lighter than a stock SRT... by quite a bit too.
P.S. - Oh and welcome
True, but apparently people have been having REALLY good results with mods lol.
I'm wondering where the limit for them will be...

Exactly. This entire thread should have been posted in the "Other Cars" section anyway, IMO.
Well motortrend says it's heavier... 3599lbs... Hit's 60 in 4.2 seconds... and the 1/4 in 12.7..... That's faster than a stock SRT, and heavier, but like I stated above, they were under-rated by quite a lot.

I had a 4g63 t that I daily drove for 2 years @36psi at 600awhp. If they are built correctly they will last.
And if what you say is true, my friend, hats off to you. That's no easy feat.
EDIT: Mobile theme doesn't show location. Any way we can verify this build?

Where are you from? I have some fairly prominent friends in the 2g circle. If there has ever been a DD as you described, that was running high boost, and holding together, I'm sure they know about it.

Thanks. Yes it was a long road. It took a while to get where I was at. Yes.. I can verify this.. many pictures of the build.. running 10.5 to 1 cr...2150 injectors, pre 6262turbo, jfab intake, Shearer t3 exhaust manifold, tuning was done via link v3 on speed density. I even converted my fwd 2g convertable to awd because after I hit the 450 hp mark I would spin from a 20 roll to 100 mph and that's when I would start to get traction. I retired from that seen but I'm still very active in the dam seen locally. There's a few guys down here in Houston that are running high boost ... Over 30psi and still going strong. It's all about the tune. We dynoed it at secret service auto at 603 awhp spiking to 37psi. I left out a lot of parts.. but just listed the mains ones. I can post up pictures if you would like. It was my baby for a while.
It was at the county dump. I'm going to reweigh it at the calibrated shipping/receiving scale here on our Navy base soon. At the dump though it weighed in at 3240 with me (140), my subs (~100) and my racing seats (~ -70). The subs are out now so it should be around 3140.
