Part 2 : PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND I'M STRANDED
Got the Bosch cps today from ebay as recommended . yes its the right part someone from te forum sent me the link...put it in worked great first few times drove to walmart and back (first lengthy drive since new part put in besides that just once around the block) then now back to a hard time starting... Before the part arrived the only way the past week to start the car was to hold down the gas and try turning it on then eventually it would start. After ping to Walmart and back I feel like the engine heats up real fast because the car is super hot right now and Walmart is only 10 min away... Any suggestions???? Please see part one for more info

Re: Part 2 ::: PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND IM STRANDED
Well, 1st off, holding down the gas, since it is throttle by wire, really didn't do much....if you have replaced the CPS, and it now starts fine. Why do you think it is too hot? What does the temp gauge read? It should heat up rather quickly, but not over heat.

Re: Part 2 ::: PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND IM STRANDED
You throttle is eletronic in nature so there is a module that controls the peddle. Your throttle control may be bad or have a loose connection. If you or someone is handy, they can take the throttle peddle loose, and check connections. When you push the throttle peddle it sends a signal to the throttle body... That may be the problem... It is called the Throttle Position Sensor...or TPS....

Another member just went through an ordeal with his "Firestone fixed it"... with an off brand fuel filter. Doc.. correct me if I'm wrong here..but if fuel is being "by passed" won't you create a lean condition and potentially overheating? https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...lp-please.html |
Re: Part 2 ::: PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND IM STRANDED
Yes it will.....but I thought the car was running fine after the CPS....if you are cranking and cranking then it could be the fuel, the fuel filter, or even a weak fuel pump.... Leave the throttle alone and just crank the car over and see if it finally starts without even touching the throttle. People tend to think the throttle is like the old days and pumps gasoline into the carb...you have neither today...you have electronics and a throttle body...

This sounds like what was happening to me, and it turned out to be the fuel filter. Shop put in wrong one and i wasnt getting enough fuel. Car wouldnt start first time, or sometimes second and felt like i didnt have any power over 3k rpm..Check the fuel filter and make sure its a bosh

The fuel pressure issue can be determined for $33 with :
The manual says : The Fuel Pump has a maximum deadheaded pressure output of approximately 9.0 kPa (130 psi). The Regulator adjusts Fuel System pressure to approximately 3.7 - 4.1 bar (54 - 60 psi). |

Re: Part 2 : PLEASE HELP MY CAR WON'T START AND I'M STRANDED
Ok everyone - I am bamboozled by the (conflicting) info?? Part numbers (CFS) are not reliable? MissSilky has provide us with her efforts to correct a recurring problem. I am not sure where we are. Can someome more knowledgeable than I am summarize what has been replaced/what may need to be replaced? I can imagine traveling cross country and having continuing difficulties (I did it once in an MBG Roadster -before Internet ) and can tell you how I VALUED all who helped me......
Posts have been terrfic and have shown continuing concern for her and her welfare. This is a wonderful 'family' of connected XF owners. I can only imagine her anxiety as she continued to CA - hoping there would be no constant operational problems. I think maybe we all have been there..... or may be there in the future. Alicia |

Alicia The CPS solution has been beaten to death and did not solve the problem from what I see. I would want to see a code number that was set. Valks post on the fuel system is not to be ignored. This thread and the preceding one became confusing and I gave up on it as I am sure many did, input has to be concise, using simple language that people understand. Turnover and crank etc are confusing as they mean different things to people. |
