Default Help please

Hello All,

So this morning i get in my srt and try to start it. wont turn over, try again and it turns over. But when i went to get on the highway there was no power, it looses all power after 3k rpm. and idles a little rough. Now it takes two tries at least to start. Any ideas? CPS? thanks.

Power and idle sounds like CPS. Not cranking sounds like an electrical problem. Battery OK? Start at the cheapest element and work your way through the problem. Does not sound like a cooling problem if the power problem is occurring at startup.

That link takes me to vehicle selection page. Just make sure you get a Bosch unit. I've heard of a few with bad ones from Auto Zone. I believe Advance Auto has the Bosch ones if there is one in your area.

Whoa.....wont be CPS if it doesnt even crank over !! Check the battery, battery posts and grounds for good tight uncorroded connections before I'd spend money anywhere.

So does this not mean that the engine does not turn over, or does it mean that the engine does not start ?

Mine from Adv. Auto wasn't Bosch.. don't recall "brand name" off hand.. but its worked great for a year now. And has a lifetime warranty.

So i switched out the CPS and it seems not to have changed anything. I did see a hose in the back that was not connected to anything. Ill try to upload a picture of it. Would that cause me any problems?

Can i bring the battery to the local Autozone or auto store and have it checked? Do they do that?

It starts the second attempt. It will just crank for a while the first try, then when i try it again it will start.

Could the loss of power be the Intercooler pump?

Ok, before you do anything else. Drive it over to Autozone (or other auto parts place) and ask them to read your codes.

Also, doubting you have an intercooler pump problem. You would still have times with lots of power until the air intake temp rises too much.

That hose connects below the throttle body and runs into a loomed harness, from there it moves up to the passenger side of the car into the box next to the battery. From there it exits and runs under the battery and into the grommet in the firewall, then its off to the door controller under and behind the glovebox.

If the recirculation door button does not work on the car check under the battery as it is common that some for the battery acid to eat it away or for the plastic to dry rot under there.

Ok so i put in a Bosh CPS that i got from amazon. No change. Didnt start the first time..cranked for a while but didnt start. Second try it started and idled even worse than before and sounded bad. When i press the gas it hesitates and sounds like its choking or something. Could i have done the CPS wrong? It seemed easy enough. just pushed it in tightened the bolt and plugged it back in.
