Help please
Hows the fuel pump / filter? Most people put the key in and roll to start position.. try turning key on.. give it 3-5 seconds .. then hit start position.
Might do a throttle reset while your at it..

I just had the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced about 2 months ago at the local firestone. Car was leaking gas. So i would think those would be good. I have tried to wait with the key, and reset the throttle, and i also disconnected the battery for 30 mins, nothing has helped.
Firestone huh.. I'm guessing you specified a Bosch/Mahle filter? With the built in regulators there has been issues with "off" brands.. Check your fuel rail pressure.. and try that little test I mentioned... You have done this since dropping in the new sensor? throttle... key..

Passenger front side of engine.. small line has a little cap on it... Schrader valve.. a lot like a tire valve.. you would need a true gauge to hook up since it is starting and getting fuel.. the maint manual has pressure listed.. seems 55-60 lbs..
If Firestone warranties there work and parts.. I'd make a date with them!

That hose is the a/c/heater or wiper mechanism drain tube. It is correctly positioned and does not need to be connected to anything

I would never let Firestone touch my car. Are u going into limp mode or is the car not starting?

I had just moved to columbus, and it was a saturday i noticed gas leaking and that was the only place i could find open to look at it. Would this start happening all of a sudden if it was the fuel issue even though its been a few months since i had it done?
Im gonna bring it to them saturday since they have a warranty on all their work. What fuel filter should i tell them to use if they used a wrong one. Is there a specific part number?
Bosch OEM Replacement Fuel Filter and Fuel Pressure Regulator. 002.477.30.01
MANN Part # WK7201
Not so much "wrong one" as possibly inferior one..

Ok, let's start with the basics here:
- How many miles on the car?
- Have you pulled a spark plug to see what they look like?
- Have you had any auto parts place read the codes? (even without a CEL, you can have 'soft codes')
- Did you check the vacumm line in the back of the motor under the Throttle Body?
- When was the last time you filled up with gas?

I agree w/ Senor' Miata. Leaking gas back there at the fuel pump is most always just an old corroded fuel line($2.)or a loose connection(tighten up the hose clamp). Is it possible that they did just this and didn't replace your pump and filter/regulator? The fuel pump has a built-in check valve in it that can go bad after time. When it does, the fuel rail doesn't hold pressure and it doesn't always start on the first try. It takes a moment for the fuel to get pressurized and to the injectors(second try). Not saying this is your issue; just a possibility.

2. No - Can you put a link to a how-to?
3. I will when i have time/probably saturday
4. Can you link a how to - with pictures of the lines
5. Two days ago, but it was happening before that i dont think its a bad tank of gas
If you hop over to the TSB and Documentation section, you will find almost every how to you could need. They also have the factory repair manual for downlod here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html
Just curious, how much general car work have you done before?
- The spark plug boot can be a little tricky to remove if you are new to car maintenance. I'd skip this for now.
- The fuel filter is under a plastic cover held on with 3-10mm plactic nuts. Pretty easy to remove, however one of them needs about a 12" extension on the socket.
- Disreguard on the TB /vacumm line question. I was confusing that with another problem.
- A bad gas cap seal can cause issues also. Just pop the cap and make sure the rubber seal looks ok.

Shop told me it was the fuel filter they put in. They put in a bosh replacement that i specified. (Thank you MrMiata) - and everyone else on the forum. Im gonna pick the car up tomorrow but they said it is working great now.
Now if I could get our MsSilky to listen.. LOL. Have a feeling her's is in the same situation. Don't think your going to run cross country from Florida to Cal. on an iffy cps. But everyone is telling her religiously CPS. She should have gotten her Bosch today from Ebay.. after she put in an Autozone in Texas around Tuesday.
Thanks for posting back! Maybe a few will listen now when they say I got a New Walmart filter and it's hard to start... LOL.

You'll be the judge of that. It ain't over till you say it's working right. Hope it fixed your problem though.
