Default Silicone y-pipe

Anyone know where i could get a silicone y-pipe like the one from the needswing dual intake. I am making my own intake and that would make m life alot easier. Thanks.

You can buy one from NeedsWings. It'll even come with the tubes, clamps and filters!

On a serious note, he has those made custom manufactured because nobody makes a correct style "T" like what he sells with his kit.

maxcichon took 2 3" metal ( not sure if aluminum or SS ) 90 degree pipes, cut them to make a 'Y'
( actually more like a "T" ) and welded together.

Most have it done at an exhaust shop using metal.

Those parts are wrapped around a mandrel and then vulcanized under intense heat and pressure. You can't just cut two in half and melt them together. A member here tried but he's running a Needswings setup now. This is something you're using to channel air into the supercharger. I would be choosy one what components I'd trust to do the job. Nothing would make a good day go bad than having a home made job crack and have dirt and debris take out your supercharger or worse, the engine.

Take care

I like your thinking scommer88.
I am looking at the 3" FTP mirrored finish Al jobies....but can't stop thinking back to how much engine heat they are going to pickup. Jeez they would look nice tho.
There is very little physical load on the intake pieces.
The Si can provide the structure, slipperiness along with the insulation, shame it doesnt come in a mirror or at least a paintable finish....or then again these days....maybe it does.

If you have the patience....I'd be inclined to use 2 suitably sized elbows and try the cut and glue technique using a compatible high end "high extensibility" silicon RTV, possibly like that you use to seal your bathroom corners etc.
The trial and error process could get pricey though.
Its the sort of thing many must gone and tried long before you = google and good luck.

I went round and round trying to get a silicone Y made, but no one will do it unless you buy it in bulk, including the cost of tooling and such.
Here's the route I finally went.
Steve over at Fabtech Performance is now selling a custom made
74 MM FTP Aluminum Y Pipe with the T/B Coupler for $250 plus shipping.
Just email him at
Steve@fabtech-performance.com and tell him you only want the Y pipe.
He also has a complete setup in standard AL for $740 but I'm not sure if the front pipes work with our setup. View it here...

Update: DO NOT Go the Fabtech route. Terrible quality and a real waste of time. I did get money refunded from a hack job of a Y!!!

Yes the FTP setups are indeed a beautiful thing.....well in my eyes at least...syfi - do a bit of reading on the horns or at least r/D for entrance losses, ie: some form of rounded entrance.
You may find an improvement - espeically for a single intake.
At a stock 6000rpm with a 3" CAI, your engine is sucking in the big ones....almost 600cfm.....through a single 3" pipe that's 72mph at the intlet. A little flute on the end will reduce turbulence and pressure drop = help feed your engine. You wont benefit from any velocity pressure gains (and others have said you never do) cause your intake is sucking in faster than your car is travelling....well at least into 3rd gear on a hard pull.
Obviously DCAI's halve this intake velocity and increase your chances of capturing some speed air....

we spent a lot of time/money/development on the y sections, sorry but I am not interested in selling them separately.

btw, there are 42 parts to our dcai kits for a srt6, 46 parts in a NA dcai

The amount of heat the air will absorb from the aluminum Y-pipe is insignificant compared to the amount it will pick up going through the supercharger.

I presume the "he" to which you refer, is the fab tech guy?

True
I guess I was looking at the whole intake.
An afterthought was that maybe 2-3mm of insulation (silicone?) could be continually sprayed (built up) on the internals of these after market tubes. You'd retain the bling but loose some ID, but heat is our worst enemy.
I was even wondering how you could drag some of this CAir and push it into the valley around the cooler.

Look at it this way, buy the Needswings duel intake and you get the best intake, the most air flow of all the intakes homemade or by so called manifactories that most likely stole the design from Needswings.
Needswings is teflon coated in and out ,but if you want it thermocoated, needswings can do that too.
one day when you sell your car you can sell the NW intake and get some of your money back,
like a lot of people on this fourm can say "I have a Needswings intake" when ever you say that everyone listens, just get the best and forget the rest. jim

After realizing I would just be chasing other's times it fell lower on the list.

I am getting an alignment tomorrow morning after the K-Mac's came in, replacing the Zeitronix cable that got road rash this week, then trying to figure out the new software updates with EuroCharged, so I can get the most out of data logs when I do go.

I had a big project that I am finally finishing up with and now have time to give her some attention.

Love the new Mancave. See you are using the side mount door opener. My guess is your leaving room for one of these:

Pro Park 8 4 Post Lift - DirectLift.ca: Residential Automotive Lifts, Motorcycle Lifts and ATV Lifts

I'm in the process of getting ready for one too.
