sounds good Anthony and very familiar. Come to the Dragon and we can have dueling open cutouts at 5800 rpm's. Very helpful if slow drivers won't yeld the road. Two will sound like armegedon

LMAO!! I doubt these guys comprehend how loud it is from the video. For those that need me to spell it out, it's f'ing insanely loud!!! I like it.

I have another set of cutout covers that I'm drilling 3/4" holes in to hopefully achieve a louder sound I can use for a couple days without getting arrested. I'll remove the covers completely at the 1/2 mile event.

Did you seriously run the Dragon with them open? Holy ****! I knew you were crazy!!

Only selectivly. As Steve said I can open or close them in abount 2 seconds. Usually don't keep them open long as nobody would run with me. The group I run with tolorates it except for Nick who hates the noise. I try to stay as close to him as possible.

When I ran the 1/4 mile with Jim at Palm Beach International we both had the cut outs open. I saw a video a frend of his had made and it sounded awsome. At a dyno pull inside a metal building with the cut outs open it sounded like 1000 HP, only made 382 rwhp. I was thinking it might make 400.

Anthony I would not recomend driving on a public road with the pipes open unless you had a way to quickly silence them. Oh yeah let me add for thoes who have not experienced it, you feel the rumble in the pit of your gut during a WOT launch.

Love the sound of all of those vids. posted, and look forward to hearing mine soon. I recall someone posting a theory about using the open cutouts for the 1/4 mile. He thought that perhaps those with the (E)controlled cutouts could keep them closed to help get out of the hole, and then open them at some point and let er' rip. At what point to open, I wouldn't have a clue. Not sure whether this is a valid theory or not. For you guys that run the 1/4, do you think there is any gain to be had by running it that way?

I don't have a definitive answer for you. I'd run a few passes with them closed and then open them up for a few passes. The mph was best with them open but the times were the same. Rob always told me the ECU needed some time to adapt to open cutouts for the best results. So if you go electric be sure to open them on the way to the track. I didn't dare drive to the track with them open.

+1 on the advise from Rob. I am far from an authority only having made about 20 passes in my car. Like Les I did not open them on the way to the track and made the first 2 runs with them closed. After opening them my times got progessively better.

I capped mine back up on Saturday morning. I'll likely open them back up at the 1/2 mile, but they are way too loud for street use.

I guess I should look into buying a set of electronic remote openeners, but I hate to add more electronics to the car.

The manual ones are a PITA, but they don't fail either. Open, on the street, they sound super sweet at cruise but as soon as you give some gas it's like a Lycoming airplane engine. They cool off real fast so recapping them was never a problem at the track. I never opened mine for the 1/2 mile so I'm curious.

Out of lack of room in the hatch, I think I'm going to get a set of the QTP's with remote operation. This is a result of the wife telling me we won't have space for my plastic ramps when we drive down to Clayton, Ga next month (1/2 mile event). The ramps are needed to elevate the car for clearance. I hate to add more electronics to the car, but happy wife equals a happy life. Only a fool tells the wife no when she okay's a useful automotive mod, so I'm definitely buying a set.

And the icing on the cake is that I have to buy here something nice, since I'm spending money on myself. I feel bamboozled. Damn that lady is crafty. I think she wants some nice boots.

Why wouldn't an aluminum race jack work? I'm thinking about uncorking mine at the hotel... the airport is only a few miles away, but at least that would be a head start to let the engine adapt.

I have space in the trunk if you need it... just sayin.

With that being said, I totally understand the "go baby go" feeling when wifey authorizes more modding
