Default Need some help from the "Mod" Squad. (Tech. guys)

Took the SRT6 to the stealership because of the engine light. They told me a rat had eaten my exhaust gas sensor wiring. That was very believable. However, they told me it that it shorted out the engine management relay and it needed to be replaced. That I was skeptical of. I picked up the car with no work done. Hell, I can fix it for 1/4 of the $1200 they wanted. I haven't slid under the car yet but I checked all the fuses in the E.M. relay and they are all good. I also noticed on the paperwork they used "recommended", not "required" like they did on the 02 sensor.

Before I order any parts, I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. What's your take. Thanks

Good call Mrmiata, I just ordered an O.E. Bosch from Amazon for 73 bucks after taxes. I'm betting this will solve the problem.

As long as the damage was before the pigtail connector...

Going to the sensor James or coming from it? In other words which side of the pigtail is "before" ?

Between the sensor and the connector where it joins the main harness. If it is damaged above that then some repair work is going to be required.

Just to be on the safe side I ordered a new OEM relay on Ebay. It was only $200.00. I drive from L.A. To Vegas a lot on business. Sometimes coming back after midnight. It's worth $200.00 just to have piece of mind. I think the sensor and the relay ought to get that damned "check engine" light off. A few rat traps wouldn't hurt either. I live in the foothills and those little F*****s are hell on cars. I had 10 guage cable that went straight to the battery on my Jag. Filthy rodent got a big surprise when he bit into that. It didn't take CSI to figure out what happened.

Yes arejohn you did. However, since you brought it up will a regular OBD II code reader read these things? I heard that they won't and the one that will is prohibitively expensive. The dealer used one so they are either tellin' the truth or bullshitting me. I will know which in short order. Enlighten me on the reader.
