Wink Code3 Pulley Issues...

First, I'll thank Bob (RED DOG) for the hook-up on the part. I was able to source a new bearing and even had it replaced by a buddy at zero cost. Well, that's not true, it cost $17, due to the spring clip pliers which snapped in half while removing the ring; that clip is pretty stout!

Anywho, got to installing the pulley and found the dowels which key the washer in place on the snout were kind of mal-formed, causing the washer not to release. Some effort and sharp-nosed punches later, it finally gave way.

All this aside, there's a bigger problem. I can't seem to get traction anywhere. The car fish-tails wildly and the supercharger now screams as if it's being branded.

It's actually so bad in-fact, it caused my guinea pig passenger (girlfriend) to go as she puts it, "full turtle" by stuffing her head inside her coat.

Anyone else having problems like this???

I've attached a video for your review. I hope I've provided enough info to resolve this issue, as I believe it could develop into a costly habit.

Be careful . . . you'll quickly develop a "reputation" with that fast scary SRT6 and you'll end up having to drive alone everywhere you go . .

Well, like Oledoc said, a few more mods and you'll get that warp speed/blurred vision effect. Then you'll hit the wall and go nitrous or, wait for it, a V-8! (how did you vote?)

Been in those V-8's Les. They can just be down right bad *** as anything I have ever driven. I real handful with that little wheel base. But you have to love it. As far as low end goes, I think the blue coupe has the right amount of oh **** factor, it's the top end of the quarter I would enjoy the V-8. I will live with what I have....pretty happy right now and the last mod will even make me happier......happy happy happy

So, what kind of difference will the tune make?

OH DAMN...you haven't tuned it yet....lol.... well, 1st thing to go is the top end limit...they will move that out to about 180-190 so no limit...acceleration should increase, crisper shifts even though they aren't touching the TCM. Just wicked, that's all....but after a little time...it won't seem so wicked, and you have to find more speed...

We all have to go down our own path. My first tune made me slower. It was super rich. However, they kept at it with no additional charge to me and after a long distance dyno tune I got great results. Later I discovered a leaking intercooler that was fudging up the canned tunes. No wonder what worked for others was off for my car. I'd be comfortable saying it was worth 20 hp conservatively. I can't get more specific because I keep changing my modification list with some retunes along he way. E/C is great in that they will keep working with you along the modification road.

Les, out of several that track their cars, I would say yours gets a pretty good work out. The only one who may compete in that category is Jim's V-8. So, repairs are expected, break downs are expected. I have really done well, reading your reports as well as others as I have modded my cars. It has saved me a lot of track time using info of what others has done before me. I love to show my cars as well, so they are always looking their best, which is hard to do if tracking them all the time. Every car is going to be just a little faster or a little slower...just the way it is...we are all within 10ths of each as far as 1/4 mile times. That changes on a round track as the driver input becomes part of the factoring. I have to tell you the 62mm pulley is a beast compared to the 65mm. It was like starting all over again...
