Default HELP! Transmission quit working

This morning I drove my srt down the street a bit and all of a sudden the transmission dropped out of gear. No gears work except park. I put it in drive press the gas and it just revs, same with reverse and it won't shift manually. I've never had any shifting problems. I haven't noticed any fluid on the garage floor. I had Speedriven program the TCU a while back. Can anyone help?

I'm going to try disconnecting the battery. Haven't seen any engine lights yet.

Check tcu and wiring for oil and check your transmissions oil level

you could try ye trusty old transmission reset....
get in car - key to Pos 2 - foot on the accelerator for 5secs past the kick down - with foot still down on accel, key to Pos 0, lift foot off accel. and don't touch anything for >120seconds, remove key. Then simply try to start car as normal.

I'll try the reset (that would be nice if it worked) and check, disconnect/reconnect the TCU after work. I tried disconnecting the batter and nothing. It's weird the transmission won't engage at all.

I just read the computer and got code P0730 which appears to be improper gear ratio.

disconnecting the battery I think requires a certain number of minutes before it invokes the factory defaults reset in the tranny upon reconnection....15mins?...someone else more studious can maybe chime in.

I've had that code before - improper gear ratio - my car wasn't going out of gear but it was going into limp mode a lot. My car had over 70K miles on it and I doubt the transmission had ever been serviced. Had the fluid changed and the system back flushed and the problem has never returned.

What is strange about this is it has never had problems. Never gone into limp mode. Shifts as smooth as butter. No warning just no gears all of a sudden. I tried disconnecting the battery, transmission reset, disconnect and reconnect tcu. Trying the battery once more before the toe truck gets here. Very disappointing.

When you shift it into drive or reverse and apply throttle, are you saying the car physically doesn't move at all?

Hi Rudy. Yes, correct. When you shift into drive or reverse, it displays as such on the dash but no movement. It doesn't even give the slight bump of engaging the gear. It's as if the transmission is not recognizing it is being put into gear. Revs as it would in park.

BTW, forgot to ask, can you have someone try to push the car forwards or backwards while you're sitting in it with the car in drive or reverse to see if the parking pawl is actually being released?

'toe truck' - hilarious.
have you jacked it up to see if maybe one of the flex couplers on the driveshaft have disintegrated ?
( if it won't move when in Park and the emergency brake is not engaged, then never mind )

I can tell you I was going down hill when it happened and with it in drive it rolled freely with no acceleration when pushing the gas.

I asked about the parking pawl because I was very optimistically hoping that the shift linkage had perhaps came loose when shifting to park but I didn't read your first post correctly to see that it happened while you were actually driving it.

I'm guessing a spring in your valve body broke so there is no engagement pressure or one of the solenoids in the transmission died causing essentially the same thing. If they say it's either, let me know because for what it will cost for them to repair/replace with OE parts, upgrades will be the same or similar price.

Also, got your PM so I'll call you shortly.

How much does it cost to get a toe truck? I heard they charge by the foot.
