Default blew the engine!!

ok, so the engine blew on sunday, not racing (60mph). bought a used engine. I'm concerned about the "block swap". Are there any specific gotcha's that i need to be aware of? the donor is from an slk320 and is an N/A. i've ordered upper and lower intake gaskets and fleece oil filter from needswings. i'll be picking up all new gaskets this week(oil pan, water pump, thermostat) currently my water pump and thermostat are 6mos. old, so keeping them, just bought a serpentine belt last weekend. From what i've read in the service manual this appears to be a pretty simple straight forward procedure. What am I missing?

Wrong longblock. MrMoPar "The crossfire shop" has a SRT6 longblock.

an slk32 or srt6 motor will swap right in, the c32 motor will require swapping a lot more parts.

I assume if i use the c32 i'll have to do a head swap as well. what else would be needed? i'd love to just go buy the srt6 motor complete, but i don't have that kind of money at the moment.

I wish I had the time. I think an srt6 motor is my Suzuki x90 would be over the top. OK, back to the engine at hand. You might try Rudy as well. He had some motors and parts at one time....

it broke the belt, i got a new on and put it on, all seemed well, an hour later i went to pick up my daughter and got about 3mi. down the highway around 60-65 and heard what sounded to me like spun bearings(loud squeling but no metal on metal type crash) then it stalled.I won't know the extent of the damage until i get it out and apart. I promise i'll report exactly what i find. In the mean time i've got to either get the 320 engine/block to work or i'll have to rebuild mine(if it's salvageable).

So it may not be "blown" after all.

These engines are pretty reliable, I'm betting that this has to do with the installation of the new belt. It's hard to damage the internals, check the belt, it's probably tore up pretty good and any damage would be directly related.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Are you seized? Did you check all the pulleys? Did it ever overheat? When you replaced the belt did you check the coolant and oil level? Good luck w/ it.

The belt is still intact. oil is full as is coolant. it's not seized. i was thinking timing chain. As I said won't really know until she's gutted. however having heard many spun bearing failures before i think that may be the issue. If it is i'll hopefully be able to get the crank turned/cleaned up a and replace the bearings. i'm just now wondering if the oil pump might have failed?

Do you have an NA or an SRT?

It's really not a big deal at all if you buy a C, E, SLK, CL, CLK, S, SL, ML, G etc... With your original you can swap pans, pump's (if that's not what failed), vacuum lines and exhaust manifolds. And some of which may not be different.

What will matter is if it's a 32 or a 320.

Based on some of his previous posts it's supercharged. I wonder if the crank pulley is loose. He would have spotted that though.
