Oh, ok. Yeah, I thought of that too, but it probably would've been spotted. It still doesn't explain how it seized though. That's crazy.

Maybe a bad tune? Driving like a hooligan like me?

For the record, the 32 block I have seized on the guy that had it. There's starting to be more and more 55K guys seizing too.

He said later on in post #17 that it isn't seized.

Skipped right over that. I blame lack of coffee lol.

It could be the oil pump. A video of the squealing would help, it could be a ton of different things.

I would post a vid but, i don't want to run the engine for fear of further damage. I turned the crank with a socket and it turned ok, the pulley did not appear to loose. I'll be pulling it out this week so hopefully i'll be able to find the root cause of the failure.

Save the time and drop the pan and check the main and rod bearings. Pull the supercharger and check the gears and bearings in there. Why pull the motor when you have no clue as to whats wrong with it???? Check the alternator, that will squeel if its bad. If the alternator is not putting out, the car will run for a short time untill the battery goes down and the car will quit. I have never been deep into one of these motors, but I need to know whats wrong before I pull a motor. But thats just me. Good luck!!

Well the engines out and i now know what happened. When the belt broke apparently some piece or pieces got lodged behind the harmonic balance and through the front main seal. The metal part of the seal got pushed back into the oil pump chain. The chain apparently jammed causing the timing chain to jump. I've verified the timing chain jump by trying to align the cam locking grooves(they wont line up). I can't seem to find a timing mark on the harmonic or any where else for that matter. The service manual says " Rotate the crankshaft to 40° ATDC" I can't figure out how to find 40 degrees exactly with no indicator. I will be posting some pics tomorrow if i get a chance.

Glad to hear it is not internal. You have any good pics of what happened?

The timing marks are on the harmonic damper (crank pulley). You will need to line up the balance shaft as well.

ok, so here's what's left of the front main seal. As you can see it got chewed pretty good by the oil pump chain.

Well,
The damage was Extensive!! piston's, valves, Heads, oil pump.
See the attached pics. So i've swapped the heads, swapped my cams to the donor
heads, Cleaned up the piston faces with my dremel, ordered a new oil pump, ordered
new head bolts, gaskets etc. Now the rebuild begins. Amazingly there's no damage to
the cam chain, oil pump chain, crank gear, cam gears.

Make sure you get all the debris out of the oil and coolant passages. Are you cylinder walls scored at all? If so, you are better off swapping another engine in than trying to fix it.

The Rebuild is complete and the engine is in. It's running better than ever!!! This has been quite A "Learning experience" I've built or rebuilt several engines in my day, bu i've never seen anything like the design and engineering of this thing! I hope I never have to do it again.
