Default Eurocharged feedback-TCU question

I have a 2002 SLK32 AMG. I am going to get their 65mm pulley and ECU tune. Do these two do quite well? The pulleys are out of stock. Have any of you had to,wait long in a situation like, this, how, long a wait.
Then is the TCU tune worth the cash? Thanks guys.

the 65mm pulley, combined with a good cai, and a tune will net you a noticeable performance improvement. there have been problems with aluminum pulleys, so be sure to do your homework. there is a great improvement. 32Krazy can help you there, as he has built two them before moving on to a Porsche. Latemodel21 might chime in as well. He is running a set up on his 32.

Funny you should mention Steve (32Krazy) and I. As it happens, I have the Eurocharged tuned TCU that Steve got from EC ... and then subsequently swapped out for a stock TCU I had because he was so frustrated/disappointed/disgusted with it. I Had it in my car for a while (now my son's SLK32), and had intended on doing some data logging to coroborate the disfuntion that Steve had seemingly suffered through with it, but I ended up moving that logging set-up to my other SLK32 and the TCU to the shelf. One of these days when I have nothing else going on, I will check it out on the SLK32 I use now.

Steve's complaints were related to both how it shifted and how it interacted with the ECU.
When I did drive it some (before putting it on the shelf), I noticed some of the shifts (up and down from second IIRC) were a bit harsh on occasion.
So, I can't say I'd recommend the Tune that is on that TCU .... Maybe they've improved it since then.

One other thing that concerns me is it seems EC was unable to return Steve's TCU to stock (adding a layer of frustration to the whole debacle).

Hopefully, Steve will chime in and point out if I've inadvertently revised history here.

Cheers,
Chris

My car actually came equipped with a Eurocharged Performance TCU tune. I'd never driven a stock SRT-6 to compare against, but I will say that the car feels "jumpy" and over-sensitive at times. I think a big factor is that my car is also equipped an a Sprintbooster and at times I feel as though the tuned TCU and the Sprintbooster don't play well together. Just my .02.

I have the Eurocharged tune on my currently stock SRT-6 and noticed a slight seat of the pants improvement. I ordered a 65mm pulley from Eurocharged on Sept 12, was told via email on OCT 17 that they had a botch of 50 made, and that they had confirmation that the pulleys would ship to them this week. I am expecting mine to be shipped to me sometime next week at the earliest. I was not in a hurry for it, so the delay did not concern me. If you decide to order one the wait should not be long at all.

I can highly recommend Rudys reprogrammed TCU
It has been great,
Eurocharged has worked with me on quite a few ECU tunes, & I have been happy also

If you haven't already ordered the pulley from Eurocharged, they should be back in stock. I arrived home from a long weekend away, and my pulley was waiting for me.

After doing my research on the TCU tune I went with Rudy's (speedriven). I can't say I noticed a lot of difference but it functions as described and I've had no problems.

If you want to hang out with a bunch of SRT-6 owners just come over to Orlando or join the Florida Crossfire Group on Facebook. We just had a little GTG tonight as a matter of fact.

So, I have an update to my previous post.
Over the years I have an on occasion mentioned (similarly to above) that I was skeptical the the TCU mod from eurocharged (specifically for srt-6 and SLK32) was sorted out to the point where it could be considered an improvement.

Well, that changed recently. In the midst of updating tunes for one of my SLK32s and my SL55 (switched my SL55 from a Renntech to a Eurocharge tune), I asked EC if they would update the tune on the eurocharged SLK32/SRT-6 TCU (that has been collecting dust on my shelf) . All I can say is I wish I had asked them to do it long ago! They have sorted it out nicely. It it really an improvement over their early TCU tune and certainly an improvement over stock. It makes the SLK32 more fun then the SL55 !

Cheers,
Chris

Chris,

Please elaborate on the improvements.

Thanks,

Hi Lloyd,

The improvements are both substantive and subtle. And, some of the improvements I was alluding to are relative to the stock TCU while others are to relative to the older EC tuned TCU .

I don't drive this car (the slk32) much; I drive my SL55 far more often ... so switching back and forth between the 2 AMGs WHILE making changes to the transmissions in both (I changed the TCU in my SL55 to a newer gen and replaced its valvebody with a reworked newer gen valve body) .... makes it unlikely that I would be the best resource for chronicling subtle changes.

What I can say (again) is that the New program for the EC TCU (for the slk32 and presumably SRT6) seems to have solved the "odd" shifting issues I noticed previously (in gear changes to and from 2nd primarily). It feels like it shifts more quickly than the stock TCU (I should hope it does : ) SO .... I think I will continue to run it (whereas It sat on my shelf for a couple of years before) AND, I like it better than the stock TCU because the useless (to me) "winter" mode has been replaced with a very useable "manual" mode. Particularly useable with the paddle shifters : )

Speaking of paddles .... while I've enjoyed them in a stock SLK32 wheel now (for 4 years), I just installed a new wheel. I actually started with a plain stock SLK230 wheel and then Ivan at DCTmotorsports had his magicians re-grip it, flatten out the bottom a bit, and then wrap it to match my interior (and then I added the paddles and installed it this weekend) .

Cheers,
Chris

I am a new SRT-6 Roadster owner (bought it last week) Aero Blue 24K miles, no mods.
I am an Apollo Beach resident ten months of the year, but my SRT will be a summer driver in Michigan, at least for the next couple of years. However, I share your feelings, and would like to see more Xf's in the Tampa area car shows. We have a show in Apollo Beach first Thursday of every month and I see the occasional XF there. Chuk, in the Orlando area heads up a very active XF facebook group, of which I'm a member, but it is a long distance to attend GTG"s. Is there a XF group on the Gulf side of FL? If not there should be.
