Default Delete resonator or muffler?

Can anyone give me some input on what is a better option for sound and a small amount of power if any? Im kind of bored of factory and dont have the budget for an $800 Nagnaflow muffler. Lol

Jim, I am in the same boat as the OP. Would like a little noise but nothing crazy loud. No CEL from removing the rear CATS's correct? And I believe you can get money for the rear CAT's due to the precious metals inside, unless that is primarily for the front ones.

Will removing the factory resonator be a bad idea for highway driving? No drone?

remove them one at a time,, first the resonator , drive it for a few weeks , then the cats but give your self about 3 to 4 " on each side in case u want to put it back. then remove the rear cats,,,(no cel) same way , if that is not enough, change the muffler,,, just keep every thing as u may put it all back in 6 months, jim

I just had to reopen this thread, as I am now at the back end of my new exhaust system. I'll be headed to Autozone for the tool to remove those BLEEPIN' hangers. By going from the down pipes right into a Y then 3 inch all the way back, I will be saving almost 60 lbs, as good as adding a few more HP. If my theory is right about how this will work, this may turn out to be a good thing I'm doing.

Thats exactly how mine is set up. I am however skeptical about the 60lbs.... I really dont think its near that in savings.

I thought about doing that, but the awesome factory exhaust tips are on the muffler

Looks like the best bet is to remove that resonator box and gut the rear cats? Don't want it to be crazy loud, but a bit louder then stock

Just the environment.

I agree with wanting to save the beautiful tips. You may want to consider the environment and the air our children will breathe when it comes to gutting the cats.

Sonically too, think about that one. I once had an Audi with a clogged up cat. It was gutted until a replacement could be found. The exhaust sounded like a trumpet. Awful.

On my SRT6 I deleted the muffler. Deleted the rear cats and "H" pipe and installed a "X" pipe in their place. Resonator acts as muffler. Sounds very smooth and civilized until WOT, then "Holy Moly"! No muff allows for any type tips!

Nice, I kind of like that exhaust tip. I have seen some ugly aftermarket ones, (4 tips, come on!?) but that looks great. Any sound clips of start up.idle or WOT pulls? I bet its crazy loud during WOT.

Weigh the system from the downpipe disconnect, including CATs and resonator and heavy gauge dual 2 1/4 pipes then remove both rear cats pipes and resonator and weigh them. I replaced them with a single lighter gauge 3 in pipe. I think that you will be surprised.
