Wicked Fast, But !!!
Finally got out to the dealer to test drive the SRT6 they ordered for me...
Black VIN#1C3AN79N45X046298
The car is fast and I love the power, but... The auto stick definately will not work for my use in road racing. the whale tail is tolerable albeit kind of gaudy.
The alcantara faux suede interior is cheap looking compared to our leather interior. The nav system is kinda cool but I probably would never use it.
The suspension is nowhere near what I expected. it seems a bit tighter than the stock suspension on our car, but since I tuned my suspension, I can only imagine that this thing would need serious upgrades, for track use. Much to my chagrin, the sway bars are still the same 26mm 16mm diameter as our car and allow for too much body roll. The brakes still look undersized for the wheel even though the rotors are larger, but work well for the couple of high speed stops I did with the salesman in the car.
The engine bay is stuffed with the supercharger and intercooler plumbing and has the same star trek "restrictive" air box which definately needs to be changed. And the exhaust system is set-up in the same restrictive pattern as the NA Crossfire. Another change for sure.
I'll post photos when I get a chance. But, I doubt I'm going to buy this thing unless I can figure out a way to drop a manual transmission in it, or swap the engine in my car. Maybe I have become too attached to the way mine is set-up, but I just don't think the SRT6 is good enough to make me swap.
PS: Power Chrysler in Valencia CA has at least 20 Crossfires / Coupes / Roadsters & SRT6's and has not sold one since October. The poor sales rep. was telling me how they ended-up with so many and now aren't selling them. I smell a price drop again.
