Exclamation MMZTimeLord's SRT-6 - R.I.P.

First and foremost my wife and I were uninjured in an accident on 12/13/15. The damage was minor, but with the excessive cost of parts and unavailability of the right front fender (Nationwide back order), we are now saying goodbye to our SRT-6.

I can not justify taking a salvage title or taking the payout to purchase another 10 year old car only to face this issue again should anything happen.

I am now in a 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Rally. So far, it is very fun and about the same size.

I will continue to maintain the documentation as I feel a close bond with this community.

Merry Christmas to all! ... and a Happy New Year to come!

Sorry to hear, you have contributed a lot to this forum. Glad everyone is okay. Just curious, how much is the buy back?

MMZ
Check out craig's list up in Sacramento.
I have found lots of parts there.
You are not far and if needed I go there about every week and would gladly check any out for ya.
Best and have a very Merry Christmas
Bob

Glad you're both O.K., and very sorry to hear this news. I also have appreciated the contribution you've made to the Forum. As some of the older members move on, the Forum is lacking the luster it once had; JMO. Will you be returning your car to stock, and have some mods available? P.M. sent.

You are a pillar of this forum and I hate to read this.

BUT, the jack of injury is good news. My Limited Roadster was killed this summer - but insurance paid enough for me to buy an 07 SE - newer and 1/4 the miles of the car I was driving, so Im ok. THis one is a garage queen, I sure miss having an XF for a daily driver....

Unfortunately, I can not remove anything from the vehicle. Lots of mods, so fewer stock parts at this stage. (Wheels, gauge cluster, switch lighting color, illuminated door sill color, LED Headlights, LED 3k Fog lights, nearly all LED exterior lights, Paddle Shift kit, custom Stereo Head Unit, etc.)

I don't currently have the space or time to repair the vehicle myself. Not to mention the expense of additional insurance, etc. I have thought about it long and hard. Just not in the cards folks.

I will be stopping by the repair shop to deliver my title and retrieve the last of my personal items.

As to the buy out, I think they said I would get about $2k less if I take a salvage title.

I can certainly point the shop to this forum or maybe help them broker here if people are interested.

I'm saddened to hear of the loss or your SRT
I'm pleased to here there were no injuries.
As others have said you are one of the major contributors to this forum from 2006.
I joined here in 2007 and your screen name is quite familiar to me.
Stop in here every once in awhile and don't totally leave us.
Wishing you the best with the new Hyundai Veloster.

Although I didn't have the Turbo model I did rent one of these last year when I flew from Chicago to the Fall 2014 Tail of the Dragon
Cool little cars for sure

Happy holidays to you and yours

Sorry to see you go and I am glad that neither of you were hurt in the incident. You have been a shining star on here and will be sorely missed if you do not show up at least once in a while, mind you this place is not what it was once sad to say.

You have a car that my wife would not go for, she insisted on the Elantra. At least it has a good GPS system.

Have a friend with a Veloster Turbo and is a neat car with hidden doors and everything. Best part is the direct injection DOHC producing 125hp/liter.

Thankfully you and your Wife are OK. It sounds as though your car might be a good candidate for "salvage title" reincarnation. I hate to hear of perfectly fine Crossfire's being taken off the road just because of a fender bender.
I'm going to miss your contributions to the forum, but you know you're always welcome to drop in here anytime.
The Veloster Forum will soon discover that they inherited a great addition to there group. I think you picked a cool looking car. Good Luck

Glad you and the missus came out OK.
Not happy that we will never see the much needed PWM fan controller

Okay, so for everyone that is interested.

On Friday the vehicle was taken to this place. It will be up for auction, you can go to the website and check inventory there. Someone here may want a shot at it. :P

Insurance Auto Auctions
6700 Stevenson Blvd.
Fremont, CA 94538
510-668-1665

https://iaa-auctions.com

Also, I have a set of Rotors and Pads for the track (R4 compound pads). Only 4 outings on them. A front lower A-Arm extended adjustment bolt, won't need THAT anymore.

------------------------
Now for the Murphy's Law story. So, tonight I am driving home in the rain and had to stop quickly, BANG, someone rear-ended my brand new Veloster! HOLY FUDGE!

Not bad, but now I have to take it for an estimate for the dimple in the rear bumper... WTF?!!?!?!

Hate to see this, but as everyone else has said, I'm very happy to hear that you and the wife were safe.

Veloster Turbos respond well to tuning... have fun and keep us posted!

Thanks for the heads up MMZ. Yikes...I hope the accident trolls now leave you and yours alone for a long, long time. Thanks for your numerous critical contributions to this forum and hope you drop in regularly. You are definitely valued here.

Mike

Update,

Here is the actual listing. They have removed the front bumper probably to better see any damage.

Good luck, give a shout if you need any details on the mods, etc.
