Swapped Valeo Alt for Bosch Alt. No Problem?
For anyone who is interested, I have read what a hassle it is to replace a Valeo alternator with a Bosch. Well I just did it & it was super easy. Regardless which alt is better, the Bosch is way cheaper. The main battery power cable fits fine. But I did shim it with 2 x 5/16 flat washers to even out the height. Because of this I was unable to use a lock washer under the nut & used some lock tight instead. The single field wire plug looks exactly the same, but its not. The internal guide ribs are in a slight different position. For this I just kept it simple, by
putting a small flag connector on the pin & filling the area with some silicon. This way it can not fall off, get wet or touch the other pin. I know some people do not want to cut the 1 wire? But for almost double the cost I can live with it. The alt fit & works great.
Should mention this was on my wifes NA. I dont know if you can just do a pulley swap for the SRT or if the shaft is longer?
The alt I bought was a World power Systems 13884A All new not a rebuild. I put my carbon pile & amp clamp on the car. At idle I got 97 amps! Thats pretty good.

Edited the org post.
"The alt I bought was a World Power Systems 13884A All new not a rebuild. "
I have a different World Wide Automotive alternator (CS-144) from a few years ago that is good. World was what used to be Delco-Remy but seems to now be owned by Borg-Warner and is in Pendleton IN which is just south of Anderson where Remy (later Delco Remy) was originally.
This appears to be different from Tom Jennings World Power Systems which is no more.
Can't tell the players without a scorecard.
ps reman Valeo

Why make something simple hard?

Glad you have it solved.
I do not think that it is fair to condem Valeo alternators though, and my chart did show the numbers of the Bosch alternatives. I personally would have no problem fitting a Valeo, in all the time I have spent on this forum I cannot say that Valeo has shown up as a poor performer. I am sure that had it been so it would not continue to be a OEM supplier.
