Why do we buy Crossfires
Why do we buy Crossfires
I own my 2nd 2005 SRT6 convertible and even with the sensor glitches, back window falling out, and battery issues I still love the car. Am I a masochist? Or could it be that I just love the way the car looks and how it performs. At least I don't see dozens everyday like I do Mustangs and Camaro's. What is your reason for being a Crossfire owner?
Re: Why do we buy Crossfires
They are unique
The owners gather at many places around the country and are fun people to gather with
All cars have issues so I won't ever complain about a Crossfire for that
I just purchased my second one recently
I owned a Coupe for 11 years
Now I own this Roadster 😎

Re: Why do we buy Crossfires
I got mine based on a list of criteria. I wanted a convertible. It had to be $15,000 or less. To begin the search I included all convertible 2 seaters from 2005 and newer. Once I began the search, in order to pick candidates I added additional criteria in order of importance. Beauty so I wouldn't get tired of looking at it for at least a decade, ongoing parts availability, serious performance, quality, rarity. You'll notice, that brand/marque doesn't appear in my list. So, with this list of filters, I ended up with this oh so rare, beautiful, reliable, supercar (with the mods). I congratulate us all for our highly refined iconoclastic taste!!

Re: Why do we buy Crossfires
- They are the most attractive, unique car out there.
- Performance in the curves exceeds most of what is on the road.
- MOST are very reliable, but my current SE is not a daily driver anyway.
- My SE has needed a lot of fixes, but I like working on it, and the car is easier to work on than any POS front wheel drive embarrassment out there.
- They may cost a bit to maintain, but they cost almost NOTHING to buy.
- Life it too short to drive boring, cookie-cutter cars.*
* Hell, even my current rental, a Caddy XTS, looks like most any other car out there.

Yes, they are OEM wheels, but the finish was never offered with a chrome finish. There is a wheel company known as LA Wheel in California that did the chroming of the wheels for a number of Crossfire owners.
The wheels had to be shipped to their center for plating for around $1,000. "Red Dog", another Floridian had this done for his SRT6's.
If you are the original owner, then your selling dealer had them plated in chrome.

Re: Why do we buy Crossfires
Actually I am the 3rd owner. The thing that makes me think they are original equipment is that I previously owned a 2005 srt 6 convertible and the wheels are the same. It would be a strange coincidence for both cars to have after market wheels. In any event they are what they are and look good. Thanks for the info.

The wheels are stock SRT6 wheels, but a previous owner or dealer had them "Chromed". The chrome plating WAS NOT offered as standard or an option to any owner from the factory.
Please believe me, I've owned my SRT6, only and original owner, since April 2006.
