At the clutch on the front it is making noise. Local parts changer stated that I will need a new super charger. Anyone have experience with this?

 

How many miles? Has the S/C oil ever been changed? If you remove the belt and spin the pulley does the bearing make noise?

 

200,000. And no it has not been changed. If I spin the black 1/2 inch wide ring on the clutch it makes noise.

 

Your moving the bearing, and that is replacable, the bearing has id # on it to find aftermarket, but Rob at Needswings can help you out, Enjoy Woody

You will probably do well working with Ed at PSE Superchargers if you plan on rebuilding or remanufacturing the supercharger.

 

When you rotate the black part you are rotating more than one bearing. So it is best to remove the tension on the belt so that you can isolate the sound to a particular bearing. I would put my money on the bearing in pulley, which is about $50 and easy to change if you do it carefully.
While you have it apart change the oil in the SC.

 

I’m going to search for the parts breakdown for this so I can understand what all I’m turning. My thoughts it’s the shaft for the turbine itself.

 

I could put up pics of the whole SC in pieces but it would be a waste of time if it is the bearing in the pulley.
You have to take the belt off and decide what bearing it is.
It is not a turbine.

 

It is amazing how many people ask for help and then do not listen to the answers. It's almost like they want to hear it is the worst possible scenario.

Trying to get the car to a place this Monday where I can get the belt off. But sadly I’m working 12 hrs all next week. I work in the fast food packageing manufacturing industry and this pandemic is kicking our asses.
