Exclamation Supercharger pulley damage. Help!

Hello everyone,

I am hoping to get some advice from one of you experienced members. Here is the problem. Recently a motor mount broke and unknowingly, I stepped on my modified SRT-6 and did some damage. The engine rose high enough to hit the hood and left a very small dent in it. The supercharger pulley sustained damage see pics. If you look closely at pic #1, you will see a small piece of the rivet has broken off. You will see a round top of a rivet and the washer like peice under it has broken off in half. Look closely at about 2 o'clock. That piece went on to sever two separate hoses located directly next to the SC pulley. In addition, the SC pulley bearing is completely DONE making some very disturbing noises when at idle. I will replace SC bearing and have temporarily replaced the severed hoses and all the coolant that was lost because of this incident. All 3 motor mounts will be replaced next week. UUrgh....that repair is a PITA to say the least. My problem is the SC pulley, it is a 55mm Eurocharged (gen 2) pulley I bought like 5 or 6 years ago along with a tune. Worked like a charm without issue. Does anyone know if this SC pulley can be repaired? Is it dangerous to operate the car with this issue? I have e-mailed Eurocharged multiple times with no answer and they don't have a category listed for srt-6's anymore. I am wondering how I can get this fixed or replaced. Please share your thoughts with me.

That pulley is toast, the part that is broken is one of the springs. You need another pulley, and not from the supplier that ignores you. You can get a good pulley from Poland, use search.
Here is one post that mentions the pulley problem. CLICK

1) Eurocharged has been out of the pulley business for years after most all of their pulleys started to grenade.

2) NO manufacturer EVER made a 55mm supercharger pulley. The smallest pulley was a 62mm and those proved to be too small and grenade (ask me how I know about this).

3) You still have that small OEM idler pulley on your engine?? That is another disaster waiting to happen.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the 55mm was a typo, I have the 65mm pulley. well had....

Any comments on these pulleys from Poland? This is a link sent to me from kompressorhelp@gmail.com. It's a link to their eBay website except it's also in Polish and I cannot translate the info nor do I know the currency exchange rate. I would be curious to any feedback on these pulleys.

I’ve had one on my coupe for 5 years. Never had any problems. I think it is probably the best aftermarket one you can buy. I had to replace the bearing in my roadster and it is the stock pulley. Current exchange would be $435. I also run a scatter shield on the coupe.

I've been running the 65mm hardened steel pulley from Poland on three of my SRT6s for several years. Be sure to tell them you want the hardened steel pulley. For my money and experience, it's the best performance pulley for our SRT6s. Go for it!

Can't help you with the translation, but this site might be able to help with the currency conversion ( https://coinmill.com/USD_calculator.html#CAD=12.30 ). Maybe someone else can chime in for a decent 'translation' site from Polish to English? Good luck!

Have you looked on their site for a 'flag' or other language conversion 'helper'?

You are not really out of luck.. after my smaller pulley did the same thing, first no one has the exact rivets or the springs as they are called,, (dog leg looking peice of between the front part of the pulley and the plate) use the steel ones from a stock pulley So i had a spare stock pulley,, has it taken apart found some hardened revits used the dog leg springs and rebuilt my pulley that was 9 years ago and 600 runs down the 1/4 mile,,,and the pulley is as good as the day i put it back on the car.,,

I want to know what kind of disaster small OEM idler makes?

The OEM idler pulley is simply too small and spins too fast causing the bearing / pulley to fail. If you hear a grinding noise coming from your SRT6 engine bay, remove your serpentine belt and spin the idler pulley. Most likely that is the source of the noise (it's either that or the bearing in the supercharger pulley itself going bad). The generally accepted "fix" is to install either a Needswings Pulley Saver Kit OR the LateModel21 belt wrap kit.

Regarding the latemodel21 belt wrap kit, you will find information at the link above BUT I would recommend sending an email to Chris Messmer (the designer / developer) directly (to avoid paying middle man fees). CMessmer@roos.com

Enjoy your Crossfire SRT6!
A constant noise will not be from the SC pulley as the bearing only spins when the SC is not running.

That is correct . . . BUT . . . When the car is first started, the supercharger pulley clutch does is not engage until the engine RPM first exceeds approximately 1500 RPM. Accordingly, the supercharger pulley bearing is spinning when the car is first started and remaining at idle..

I thought that was what I wrote implied, no BUTs about it.
It was you who said that it could be the SC bearing.

Thanks for the Ad, but I stopped selling the LM21 BWK some time ago as the sales had slowed to the point where it was no longer practical to make the custom pulleys in the quantities required to keep the kit reasonably priced.
HOWEVER,
I can (and do) recommend Needswings' pulley kit for this application. Rob's kit (and everything else he sells) is top quality and comes with the best customer service you will find.

Cheers and stay safe!
Chris
