Well there's some good news...…

Should be ok though, I don't plan on any drag strip runs and even the V6 breaks the tires loose on command.

Other than cleaning up the engine compartment.... I got nothing else done today.... on the car at least.

Being domesticated caught up with me today. Stuff to clean, dump runs to make, and places to go!!

Good thing I'm off all week.

My oil, filter, air filters, and PS fluid showed up today. I just have antifreeze left to buy.

Jared

What antifreeze are you going to buy? Zerex G-05 50/50 or something else?

I've been thinking about what coolant to use the last couple of days. The ML55 I got the engine out of, and the XF both have/had what appears to be Dex-Cool.

I want to use G-05 and am planning on pulling the thermostat from the engine and flushing it out, and sticking a hose in the now open heater core inlet and flushing out what is left in the car.

Regarding this Zerex is fine. I'm going to flash and replace antifreeze in coolant system as well.

G05 is listed as a suitable replacement antifreeze for our cars and any other MB in this age range and G05 is what I am going to use. My local auto parts store stocks it, and I am nowhere near a Mercedes dealership and am going to avoid going to one at all costs.

Do you have a compelling argument as to why G05 is not a suitable replacement antifreeze?

DEX-COOL has had many complaints about clogging the system and is no longer used by GM. Anyone who is using it should drain it and flush well and use ZEREX G-05 (yellow) or the Mercedes recommended coolant (blue) instead which are the recommended coolant type for these cars. The formulation is made for the job and DEX-COOL is not as it is the wrong type. The coolant recommended is the HOAT type, Hybrid Organic Acid Technology, let’s face it anything with organic in its description costs more, from Apples to ZEREX. 🙄
Save money now on the wrong coolant and the cars cooling system will clog and corrode, your choice.

Zerex G-48 is blue as well and has the good reviews.
Here is some info for Mercedes Q1030004 and it's undiluted.
Probably I'll stick with this https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...-blue-q1030002

I realize that as you stated you wanted to use G-05 in your quote I used, I just added the warning for general consumption, (I do not mean it should be consumed) 😜

There is no big difference between Zerex G-05 and OEM MB, Both are approved by MB. So it's just a matter of color. I prefer blue LOL

Also the drive train is almost ok the srt6 drivetrain will work without a problem the limited drive shaft I can not say , the axles are the same as srt,,,, the rear end is the same as the srt ,,, the limited drive shaft uses a smaller yoke 3 bolt on each end for non racing it should be ok. the yoke for a limited ( center to center) is 3.5" for the srt it is 3.75"

in the transmission the limited is weeker than the srt and the srt is weeker than the V8 if you have your limited tranny rebuilt with the 772-???? V8 kit ,it would be the same as a v8 along with adding the blut tops. yet for street driving the limited tranny will work fine.

I wasn't aware that MB had their own PS fluid, it says Pentosin CHF 11S on the PS cap.

Figured I would come inside and warm up and share some pictures of my workshop and progress.

Shop is 1200 Sq ft and has pretty much everything I want as far as tools..... except a lift.... I really want a lift.

Normally one of my Miatas is parked where the Travel Trailer is. I had to rebuild the front wall and floor and am waiting for temperatures to be consistently above 40 degrees (urethane sealant requirement) so I can finish putting it back together and get it out.

I got the VC gaskets installed and the spark plugs in. It's still like 35 degrees out, so a cup of coffee and back out I will go.

Does anyone else collect JD Garden Tractors BTW?

Jared

I know someone who uses lifts all the time and is still shorter than his wife.
