Residue avoidance & recommended detailers
I'm about to take my Crossfire for its first exterior detailing. When I had my last car (Mercury Cougar), the two places I had it detailed I would not return to with the Xfi because when they did a paste wax they always left a white residue in the crevices. Any suggestions for how to avoid this? - type of wax? type of service? Any favorite detail shops in the Washington DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area? -- would love to get that "glassy" shine without the white residue in the crevices.
a quality carnauba paste wax (eg. ~ meguiar's) should not leave residue... liquids and inexpensive paste waxes (eg. ~ turtle wax) will leave residue.
also share with them your past/negative experiences... and you do not want them to leave any extra residue or wax in the cracks, crevices and/or trim areas.
in a lot of cases... you get what you pay for.

Thanks Andrew. I'm certainly willing to pay more for the carnauba -- with the prior experiences I didn't know what I needed to know & just "ordered" what they happened to have. Does the carnauba wax remove light scratches as well?
most carnauba waxes do not have cleaners in them... when detailed properly...the cars finish should be polished prior to waxing.
Well, I detail cars AND I have a Crossfire AND I can probably get to DC (I am currently located in the middle of VA)...please pm me for more info. If you want examples of my work please pm me. Hoping to do business with you soon.
