Sick of hazy headlights?
The Xpel material is some very good stuff, however I was told by an installer that that on some installations the thicker films can start to peel and tatter on the edges, making them look old before their time. He talked me into installing Lamin-x. When installed by the distributor, warrantied for life.
BTW- he sells both!

Did the install seam difficult at all? I'm thinking about trying it myself.
It looked easy enough for him!
I tried doing a friend's car and made a bit of a hash....but I think ours are easier then his were.
Hey Guys,
Can you take a look at the attached photos and tell me what is going on with my headlights? The second photo is an extreme closeup of the first photo. Both headlights look this way and I'm thinking it is well beyond an oxidization issue as I have tried several different solutions without success. Is there any possible way of restoring the headlights?
Thanks!

Several years ago, our headlight assemblies were replaced. Since then we have been using "Plexus" plastic cleaner, protectant & polish. Developed for aviation, commonly used on motorcycle windscreens etc. Comes in aerosol spray (no cfcs) and our headlights still look new. Try a motorcycle shop or parts supplier. (for maintenance, not restoration)

Yes. I've fixed worse.
Question...I opened my headlights to install halo eyes and to clean the inside of the lens. I thought I had an issue with the inside of the lens (cleaned with methanol etc before taking it all apart). It turns out that the issue was still with the outside I think - I had to sand more heavily I think to remove a deeper glazing. Anyway I had sanded the inside of the lens too - in the process of still sanding them with 1000, 1500, 2000 and then 3000. Can I spray it just like the outside with the clear acrylic enamel I have? What I am asking is do I simply treat it the same way as I would for the outside of the lens? I suspect I have to since I have sanded it already somewhat so it will never be clear now unless I do coat it with something.
After the #3000, you should be able to use a plastic polish or buffing compound to make them perfect. As for spraying with clear-I have no experience.
As I have been told, if you use any type of clear on your headlights, it should be mixed with an activator/hardener to make it last. Clear spray will not last any time before showing imperfections. Just what I been told and makes sense.

Can you buy new covers for the headlights or do they sell them only as the complete unit for about 600.00 plus?
I just bought a "cherry" Black roadster with only 39,400 miles. The left headlight cover is good, but the right needs work. I can take it to a detailing shop, but they never get them to look really new.
If I can buy just the covers, great. If not, then I will find a good detailer. Sorry, but after rebuilding 6 different engines on other cars I owned, I don't do this kind of labor anymore at 71.
thanks

You cannot replace the "covers"
The best bet is to take it to Sam's Club, most of them will refinish them quite cheaply, then get you some Lamin-x( @ $60 ) or Xpel( @ $70 ) covers and install them yourself.
I ( actually maxcichon and I ) refinished both of mine about 3 years ago and installed Xpel covers, they still look like new today.
BTW, it's not too hard to do yourself with a Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Refinishing kit for about $25.

Thanks. I might check out the Mequires. I have used their products in the past with good results. I tried two different brands on my 2005 Tiburon, and to put it politely, they really sucked even after a lot of rubbing and work. Might try it on just the left lens and see what happens.
thanks
thanks
I did my roadster last weekend. It appeared to have some type of clear spry applied to the lenses. It was all dried out and peeling, looked like old clear coat peeling off a hood or roof. Wound up going down to 600 wet to get it off. Polishing after that was a nightmare but they look good now. That experience would deter me from ever using any clear spray on the lenses. I did have clear 3m vinyl on a Mazda once and when that started getting bad it just peeled off and the lens cleaned up with some adhesive remover. I would use that again.
