Default Clean Exhaust Tips

In almost every picture I see of a Crossfire for sale, the inside of the exhaust tips appears to be spotlessly clean. I know there must be some method of cleaning them.

Does anyone on the forum know the answer???

Thanks...

Brasso works like a breeze for me. No elbow grease.

~ i wipe them out after every washing. and i use "nevr dull" wadding polish (non-abrasive) once a month or so to maintain the shine.

Your pipes are clean. Suspiciously clean. However, I suspect that you must use cut-outs to keep the OEM xFire tip that clean. The only alternative is that you run 200 octane just to make us feel bad.

Regarding the Nevr Dull...I checked the website and it said I could find it at WalMart. Would it be in the household cleaning supplies or the car section?

My exhaust tips are NASTY...I have over 4k on my car now, and haven't cleaned them yet. Will this stuff get them clean, or do I need something stronger?

I use brasso also with excellent results.
I looked for never dull at Walmart last night but couldn't find it,
They may have been out of it.
Anyway my car has 8,500 miles on it now and I tried several other alternatives...then I discovered I had Brasso in my closet all along
the rest is history. ZERO elbow grease.

Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh or Meguiar's Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum Polish both work extremely well. At a recent session at Meguiar's I cleaned up the exhaust tip of a Honda S2000 with over 100,000 miles on it and the owner says he has no recollection of ever cleaning the exhaust tips. The transformation shown took a whopping 5 minutes. A friend of the owner went back later and spent another few minutes cleaning out the inner portion of the tip with the same product.

Depends on where the nastiness is. If it's on the outside of the pipes, then the recommendations above will work wonders. If, on the other hand, you're also talking about the inside of the tips, some of us SRT-6 owners (unlike the Ltds or the base) have found them to be painted (or somehow finished) in black, so that would probably be considerably more difficult to remove. Good luck!

I thought you'd approve.

The Meguiar's polish I mentioned will clean up the inside of the tips beautifully, and with very little effort. Just use a clean terry cloth towel and have at it. Expect your fingers to be rather dirty when you're done though, so if that bothers you get some gloves.

Mike: the tail pipe came out great, but I really can't get over how well the pavement under the car looks now too.
