Default wheel well wondering

Just wondering about if painting the wheel wells black was a good idea. Ive an 04 thats pretty clean up under there and you can see where the factory paint was applied. Still I was trying to decide if a glossy coat of black would be better, set the factory rims off more

Pro: Clean looking
Con: not how it came from the factory.

Ive had people ask if it's an 08-09 and love the fact that it looks fresh, just dont want to make a mistake. For those who have painted, what works best?

thanks

Curtis

Ah someone who thinks like I do! A nice coat of Rustoleum Gloss black. Be sure to cover your car when you do it so you don't get over spray on it. The wheel wells frame the wheels and tires and are very overlooked. Makes your car look like it just rolled out of the showroom. I shoot mine twice a year.

Hi Pat, I had the same thoughts on this allthough not done anything about yet. In the meantime when I had all the wheels off, I got some very very hot hot water, lots of detergent, and a stiff scrubbing brush. The wheel wells came up virtually like new, and if I had repainted the suspension parts it would have, cos they tend to go rusty very quickly.

I just scrub them with soap and water, bug and tar spray works well on the fronts (plastic) on the rears soap and water. They were never glossy so a matte black would be better if you must spray.

About twice/thrice a year, I remove all of the wheels and clean the wells as described above.

THEN I spray them down with a tire gloss (Black Magic) wait and wipe. Keeps them clean and shiny for quite a while.

I just did the Tahoe wells before this trip with Meguiars Hot Shine Gel and they look great even after 1000 miles. For 100K on it-it looks pretty danged nice!

P.S. Don't get the Black Magic on the tires-you won't like it. The Meguiars looks great though...

I scrub em before I paint them, and I scrub them every time I wash the car. I use my Stoners tire detailer when they need a bit of sprucing up. I really like the look of the Rustoleum gloss black in the wheel well, that's my personal taste. And yes I too hit all those suspension parts as well.

Anyone ever try Groit's Undercarriage spray?

Hay Pat could you get some pics up? I'm curious how much of a difference it made seeing as how our cars are gray... I didn't think it would make much of a difference. Prove me wrong!

And what's this I hear about you C-Class catching fire?!

Jason you have to see them in person, hint hint. Its hard to photograph but it makes a huge difference in person. Get yourself back here for a weekend and we'll hook up.
