Ever hear of the recipe for mice that is part corn meal, part sugar and part concrete? I can't recall the amounts but the mice eat the mixture and the concrete turns them solid and no stink. I have heard about this from other car folk, never tried it, they say other critters like pets won't eat it so it is safer to use than Decon etc.
I need to make a plan for putting ours away soon. I never had a mouse issue in my new garage when I parked my collector car, I sure don't want to have anything with the new X Fire. I was planning on filling it up, taking the antenna off and putting a cover on it. May put the H-F battery tender on it. I have read lots of people thinking that Stabil isn't needed, here is IL the gas has alky in it so freezing shouldn't be a worry.
YMMV

Thanks!
Bought a float charger today.
If you have a roadster there is a previous post on lubing the cable system for the top.
Probably not a bad idea.

Hey Joe .... I don't think freezing is the issue with using the Stabil. Stabil prevents the gasoline from gumming up and clogging the fuel system. Commonly used with carbureted gasoline engines, but I'm sure it will also help our fuel injector systems.
Just MHO ...... Cheers

Joe,
I'm with IBLUBYU; I had never used Stabil until about 4 years ago. Now, I use it on everything; it's about the gummy residue that builds.
It's great for snow blowers, lawnmowers, etc., etc.
I put in the X-fire last year on a full tank and ran it a few times during the winter and the car was ready to go in the spring. Thanks for the post; I'm learning as well.

This is from the Sta-bil web site.

Q: Is STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer safe for fuel injectors and catalytic converters?
A: STA-BIL is safe to use in both fuel injected and carbureted engines, and will not damage catalytic converters or oxygen sensors. STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer prevents the formation of gums and varnish that can clog fuel injectors, and actually contains a fuel injector cleaner to further improve your engine’s performance.

I use steel wool in the tail pipe as they will not eat it!, change oil, drive 50km. to work new oil into all bearings/old oil out of bearings (acids in the oil will etch the bearing surfaces) fill tank with StBil wile driving the 50km which will remove enough fuel from the tank for posibble expansion (im in a heated storage) stabil will also then work through the entire fuel system, car cover, never heard of the moth *****, Where do you guys put them? Inside/out?

Good idea about the steel wool, but you might consider using the stainless steel variety .... regular will rust pretty quick in a moist environment.

Geez .... dont put the moth ***** in the car ..... stink wont go away for a long time. Just spread them around and under the car.

Thanks for clearing up the moth ball part! that now just made sence! can't beleive how that would have turned out

Yes I forgot to mention the S.S. veriaty of steel wool!, I will take out my battery and store it in my heated garage with the battery tender on it all winter as the will not allow me to have a 110v power feed to leave running at the storage site, it will be heated to 65 deg F though which is good!

Thanks for clearing things up!

I think the best recipe for mice is a BBQ sauce and beer marinade, then grill them lightly on each side. Serve with chips and beer.

I always tossed a bunch of these throughout my pop-up camper (3 years) and my Hybrid camper (3 years) during winter storage and never saw a mouse dropping or any damage in spring. No idea why it works but you gather the bounce sheets up in spring and the trailer smelled laundry fresh for weeks.
