Door Sills -- Help Needed
Ok I did my search and found nothing for my issue. My Xfire is Ok but my wife's Mercedes has the same metal inserts where you get in the car. On ours cars it has the word CROSSFIRE on them. She had some friends in the car and they scuffed up these inserts in the back seat. Does anyone know of a product that will take the scuffs and scrach marks out of these inserts? Thanks.

My wifes front sills were scratched and I had the dealer replace them. They look like plastic to me, maybe try some Plastx? the ones on my wifes 240 were too badly scratched to even think about buffing.
The dealer simply popped them off another 240 the same year. Now if I can only find a new ash tray cover............ours has a crack in it.

I know this wont help scratches but sometimes the scuffs are able to be cleaned with a Mr. Clean magic erasers. Just get it wet and try it out I use them all the time at my detail shop
hawk what model Mercedes? In my wifes they had to replace the entire door sill, not just the silver part. That in a 240 is attached to the entire sill.

Hi Patpur
It is a C350 4Matic. I bought some Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish today and will try that. I called Mercedes dealer today and did get the bad news that the insert and plastic are one piece if they need to be replaced.

Well I am amazed. Although the Mothers did not take out all the scraches it realy shined and polished them. It saved me from having to replace them.
It worked so well that I tried it on the Xfire tail pipes. Well it looks like some of the pipes on the forum. I then tried it on the Xfire's entry plates. Boy! I was surprised how much cleaner and polished the word Crossfire popped out with the shine. It did not change the look of the brushed portion other then they looked cleaner
Make sure you follow the directions.
