I have Hoover's GUV vac in my garage. It works OK for light duty stuff and better than my Dirt Devil hand held vac. But I don't think you're going to find anything stronger that the vacs at the do-it-yourself car wash if you have access to one. Plus, you don't have to clean out the filter.

Bissell Garage Pro vac - so far so good. Love the 30+ft hose.

Plus it comes with a lot of unique attachments.

Wall hanger:

Micro attachments:

I've never found a cordless worth it's own space. Just not enough suck. The wallhanger above is plenty powerful, is easily detached to move and comes with an 18' or 20' hose.

I've never met a portable that was any good and that's about 45 years of cleaning cars. I always use the house vacuum or a shop vac. The wall mounts sound interesting I've not used one, they sound more like a regular vac than a true hand held portable. Unless a portable has attachments they are pretty much useless getting into cracks and crevices. If you are as **** as I am I even vacuum under the seats.

Knowing how PatP is about his car. It would not surprise me if he vacumes his tires. Make sure you get all those little stones out of the threads before Carlyse!
