Hi,

My 04 has a similar noise .
I get no tap at first start, then a tap tap under load when cold.
Once its warms up the tap is gone under load but notice this noise when i idle long periods of time.
Its a faint noise like a diesel sounds.

I have searched and some seem to have similar noise.
I run 0-40 , m1.

I am almost sure my oil pump is going to be the problem.
Im going to get a oil pressure gauge and see how that works out.
I searched but wasnt able to find any data on oil pumps for our cf.
Im assuming nobody has had to change it?

99% of oil pumps are 2 gears running together in a constant oil bath.
If the oil is kept clean and filtered, an oil pump should be good for 500,000 miles or so.

I recall seeing info on here about mounting an oil pressure sending unit using a 90 degree fitting on the front of the engine at an available port, however there was some concern about it's close location to the serpentine belt .
You could probably pipe the port up to the top of the engine and secure the sending unit out of harms way.
