Question Tree Sap

A tree at work has decided all of a sudden to start spitting sap on all the cars. I can't find anything that works to get it off. I bought some stuff from the auto parts store and that didn't work at all. I waxed the car and that helped a little. But you can still see it on the car. And of course my car is black. Does anyone know of anything that will help take it off without hurting my paint.

the only product that will work is: isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

wash the paint surface... saturate a soft towel in the rubbing alcohol and rub lightly...allowing the product to do the work... not all elbow grease. polish the surface and wax.

the sooner it get it off the paint... the better. over time the tree sap will etch the surface (like a bird dropping will do).

don't waste your time with a clay bar... its not effective w/ tree sap.

i had owned a detailing business for over 10 years... i have seen it all.

cheers!

WD40 is another idea in addition to the rubbing alcohol.

Thumbs up Re: Tree Sap

I agree with Andrew, clean the surface thoroughly and use alcohol.

You can also try keeping a small pack of re-sealable Baby Wipes in the glove box. I had the problem with bird droppings when I was away from home and its real convenient to whip one out of the glove box and get rid of the mess as soon as you see it. It doesn't seem to harm the paint at all.

And try and find somewhere else to park. If that's not doable then you probably should invest in a car cover.
