I would go with the Magnaflow, for some reason Flowmaster just doesn't sound like it belongs on a crossfire.

I had flowmasters on my Chevelle and those are the only cars I would even bolt them to, good for any American muscle car.

I bet the magnaflow has a better sound but I'm just guessing. Also the Flow master's a very heavy mufflers, made from 1/8" thick steel, not my choice for a sports car, you want something lighter in weight then a Flowmaster.

from clips of both style of mufflers on the crossfire (chambered vs straight through perforated core) ... the flowmaster has a slight burble at idle kinda like a small v8 but not exactly there ... the magnaflow has a deep even tone with no burble to it ... under acceleration both sound good with very similar sounds ... one thing i am not sure of is the dB levels from both styles ...

I would pass on the flowmaster, if you ever heard a Camaro with a v6 using the flowmaster exhaust, it sounds like total garbage.

I can't really say for sure because I don't have both on my crossfire.
I went with the magnaflow and cut and welded on my original factory tips. I moved them out 3/4" to get a more pronounced look.
I like the sound. It is a bit loud at low rpm when you are trying to talk on the phone.
If I had the chance to do it over I would do it the same way.
Hope this helps.

I've got a Magnaflow on my SRT-6 and I like it. There is quite a bit of interior resonance but overall I like the sound for sure.

MSHEREDY, where did you buy your magnaflow and how much $$$ was it. I have an SRT6, and I've heard that a regular crossfire exhaust system is not the same as the SRT6 one's. Do you have any part #'s and did you do the install yourself?

I'll have to do some research for you as far as part numbers go. I bought the car with the exhaust on it already. It is pretty unique from what I have seen out there. It is a dual in dual out muffler, therefore the muffler shop fabbed up 2 new pipes in lieu of the factory Y (where it goes to the single pipe on the stock setup). Pretty much it is now a true dual exhaust. I will take some pics and post them here for you as well.

As far as the cost goes I'm afraid I don't know that. The fabrication work involved looks pretty straight forward (no complex tubing bends) but the photos will tell the complete story. If you are here in San Diego, CA Ed Hanson exhaust did the work. They are know for excellent exhaust systems mainly on muscle cars and street rods. The trick thing they did was weld on the factory exhaust tips to keep the sleeper look. Great sound even at idle.

Maybe this thread can get going again with new input. If anyone has sound bites that would be perfect!

I just had the local muffler shop put on my Magnaflow 12138. When the owner of the shop backed it off the hoist, he told me that if I would have used a Flowmaster, it would have been much louder, maybe too loud actually.

Keep the Flowmaster on the Mustangs.
I would choose Magnaflow out of these two.

I noticed there are a bunch of different sound bites on You Tube for what its worth. I like my Magnaflow16633. Sounds awesome with the Needswings dual intake.
