Default Manual Shifting Problem?

I recently noticed that when I put my car into 1st gear that it is kind of difficult to do so. Has anyone had a problem like this before?

My car only has 15k miles on it.

Mine occasionally has a little diffuculty going into first...usually not a big deal though.

Just out of curiosity...does your shifter also hit the bezel around it when going into fourth...especially if you're going into fourth in a hurry?

Do You have an '04? They seem to be a little more "sticky" than the later years.
Anytime you're down shifting, or going from neutral to 1st. gear, always put it into 2nd. then into first. This seems to make your "synchros" work better.
I hope this helps.

Yes! And I'm on my second shifter mechanism. They replaced the first one under warranty. I had real difficulty hitting second. It's better now, but I still hit the bezel in forth. And When I do pull the shifer back to the bezel, with the clutch depressed, I feel a rumbling in the shifter handle. Can't make it happen with the clutch engaged Though.

Wonder if there is an adjustable stop down there...

some 04 models had bad 1st gear synchros, and need the TSB update. mine had these problems along with popping out of gear, after the update it shifts much better.
Also try reving the engine with a little blip before engagining 1st. this might help align synchros and get oil flung off the gears.

Same problem! I wouldn't be too worried, it only occurs from time to time. With this car you can start in second if need be but I can always get it into first after a try or two!

I have a '06 with 2500 miles. I have trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd. Occasionally i can feel the stick move under my hands. I guess I need to take it to the dealer.

The six-speed trannys can be difficult to shift into first, expecially when they're cold. Its in the owner's manual.

The problem gets better as the mileage increases. I have 51k miles on mine now and its nice and smooth.

What is the TSB update? My car also tends to pop out of gear from time to time.

Yes, mine is an 04. I've noticed that I can get the car to go into 1st after putting it into 2nd as you described.

I guess it must be the synchros....just one thing...wtf are synchros?

I have an 05 and when I first got it (19K) I had issues with it not wanting to go into first. Now it seems to be fine (22K), but one thing that is still happens is intermittantly it will not ingage into reverse. It's so embarassing! I don't think there's a fix, just jam it in. Other than that, I love my CrossFire, it's fun to drive and it gets alot of attention.
