Default Engine problem

My NA Auto Coupe has started idling at 500 rpm and has a stumble, it occassionally stalls and once restarted is OK for a while.
Throttle response has been slow and it is DEFINATELY low on power.

But the most disturbing part is it has twice now decided to accelarate from rest to 1500RPM the last time sending me into the back of the car in front, minimal damage but a worry.

Now it does have the Powerchip ECU ugrade exhaust cold air and all the rest but the dealer is mystified.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Nope havent scanned it . I have spoken to Powerchip and they say no problem with their product so Im guessing it is an ignition thing that is causing some type of limp mode.

I did change the CAI to a single pick up for a day to see if it made any difference, it didnt, but that could not cause issues anyway

Going back to see the dealer on Tuesday just means that I cant drive her prior to Philip Island.
Thanks for the thought

I know it sounds silly, but check your plug wire connections.

Pep Boys or similar will lend you a scantool for free. Plug it in and tell us what it says.

I know you say you've checked your plug wire connections and they are firm.
Have you checked the plug wires and/or plugs to make sure they work.
Occasionally they just fail and you need a new set.
Check to see if you're getting juice to the plugs.
I've had plug wires in the past that appeared to be fine, however, the car wouldn't go over 6omph - turned out to be wires.

Idle at 500 rpm is normal it seems because that's what mine idles at. Have you checked the fuel filter or pump. Sounds like there may be a surge of some kind.

Try the code scanners, but you're going to probably need a full real-time OBD-II diagnostic while running the car (with something like OBD-Key)

The real important things you have to look at are the Exhaust AFRs and the Fuel Rail Pressure.

Had the powerchip 18 months set for 100 octance available from pumps here added probably 30+HP but lots more low down tourque.

Matched with cold air intakes (behind grill) and twin cat 3" exhaust.
Great performance with more to come trying to get a set of cams made to compliment .
