Default Ticketed because my exhaust was "too" loud

So on sunday I was pulled over by an officer who claimed that my exhaust was entirely way too loud and illegal. He wrote me a summons and said I would have to get a stock exhaust on it asap.

I have an 06 6spd with the magnaflow exhaust. I live in new jersey. I usually never fight fire with fire, but this man based this ticket entirely on his OPINION. He never used a decimeter or anything.

Does anyone know the actual legal dB rating for an exhaust in NJ?

Thanks..

and for the record, no, I wasn't speeding or doing anything else .. this isn't a 'favor' ticket.

Not sure on Jersey but here in Ma. we can't alter the exhaust to make it any louder than stock.

That's amazing, but Senators with young girls can run their cars into a lake and never get fined!

although i think my magnaflow is entirely too loud for the the amount of propulsion coming from the car ... thats BS !

well you have two choices ... pay the ticket or hire a lawyer for 500 bux and then pay the ticket. either way you are paying a ticket ... its a tax subsidy ...

sorry you got burned ... can't blend in with the sheep with the car looking as is and sounding as is so the wolf pounced ya.

hah I don't need a lawyer.

the legal limit here in Jersey is 95 dB.

the fact that he failed to use is decibel meter in the first place should be enough to get the ticket dropped.

what BS.

got news for you, the cops don't need no meters, and no radar guns to give people tickets. If the officer thinks your too loud or looks like your driving too fast, your busted. 99% of the time the judge with side with the officer, so your just gonna have to suck it like everyone else these days. You'll show up in court and the officer will give some lame *** reason for not needing the sound epuiment because he took a class at the police acedamy on sound limits and judging speed with out a radar gun, on top of that he'll probably say he finished top of his class at the acedemy. lol you loose, pay up.

next time slip a $50 bill under your drivers license when you hand it to him, and if that bothers him, tell him you want to buy him lunch for working so hard. problem solved before it escalates.

I've got the magnaflows on my car also. I do drivers testing in Michigan and almost all the bikes I test have straight pipes on them. I have never been stopped but if I did I would have him explain why bikes are allowed to be 10 times louder than my car.

call the DMV and get real data. DONT slip money unless you want MORE GRIEF.

I pulled my SRT off on day two, Got pulled over by a cop that wanted to see my 2005 srt, this is in 9/11/2007. No more advertising that stuff.

Go to a few speed shops to get a handle on a good lawyer and the skinny on the noise issues. WOODY enjoy.
