Re: Resonator removal on a NA Crossfire
You would have to ask a expert on that one. There are 2 mufflers in the parts catalog for the na Xfire a sport one and a premium one. I don't know what the difference is. The srt one costs twice as much as the na muffler so it might be better to go aftermarket.
Re: Resonator removal on a NA Crossfire
Ya I was considering that but I have heard a magnaflow 14161 and it sounded good but to much drone sound at around 2000-2500 rpm.
I just don't want to get something and have it installed and then be disappointed.
That's why I want to match the SRT6 sound without resonator.
It's perfect !!!

REMOVING THE REAR CATS-
Yes you can remove the rear cats without tripping any sensors. Both the pre-burn and post-burn O2 sensors are located before the rear set of cats. The exhaust that passes through the rear cats is not a measured value. As far as emissions go...the exhaust of most cars only passes through one cat and is then clean enough for human consumption. Unless the engineers have intentionally designed our engine to run rich then one cat per side should be enough to pass emissions. My thought is the second cat was an easy way for the engineers to quiet down the exhaust note and as a bonus, make the car run overly clean.
FYI...I'm from Naperville and I have seen great things from the shop that was being suggested on Eola. A friend of mine had custom dual exhaust done on his mustang there and the work was excellent.

I might just drop by today and talk with the guys there.
Riot said just to mention AMG Jerry and they will take good care of me and provide good advice as well.

Muffler and pipe assy, crossfire, w/o supercharger, sport series 05-07 $588.80
Muffler and pipe assy, crossfire, w/o supercharger, premium series 05-07 $496.80
Muffler and pipe assy, crossfire, w/supercharger 05-06 $1,092.50
I wonder what the difference is between the sport and the premium muffler is?

If it's a muffler and pipe assembly, then the resonator might be included.

Do you have a full layout for the SRT6 like that.
I did stop by the muffler shop mentioned in this thread and they said absolutely not to any alterations to my exhaust other than a different muffler etc. They WILL NOT remove the cats or any emission part whatsoever.

Re: Resonator removal on a NA Crossfire
Federally it 50K and up to 10 years if found by EPA. We've had a small rash of people with undercar mirrors scoping people's cars in mall parking lots looking for those without cats to rat them out to the EPA for the 10K finder fee.
I think the Crossfire sits low enough to not worry about that though...

Re: Resonator removal on a NA Crossfire
You should buy the magnaflow cat-back and then dyna mat the trunk just under that peice that pulls up to reveal our flat tire kit. lay one layer of dynamat on the underside of that it sits exactly the same and will cancel any resonance you would hear from the exhaust.
also it improves road noise.
Dont play more than you have to.
Blot-On Bolt-Off it is the way to go.
