exhaust or muffler change
hi, I want to get more sound of my exhaust. the thing is that the magnaflow costs too much here in Finland, and ordering it from the states would be too expensive also.
To get more sound from the engine, is it just possible to change the muffler? Meaning the end of the exhaust. And what would be the right choice for you?
If you have done it. What system have you installed?

You can purchase just the muffler from Magnaflow ! I've seen alot of folks here in the States go with the 12158 Magnaflow muffler including myself (this is not a catback system)
I installed the Magnaflow ($76 US dollars) with Borla performance tips. Some have utilized the stock tips. I decided to go the different route.
Check out my picture gallery.
Good luck on your quest !

Ok good to know.
Did you have to weld something or did it just go there perferctly by itself?
Borla performance tips... have to see the pics after this, but that sounds good and not so expensive. (compared to the 1500$ they are asking here for the cat back system, installation not included... what a robbery)
Any other one has done that kind of a thing?

Everything is welded in place. I saved the OEM muffler and tips just in case I didn't care much for the sound of the Magnaflow. Except for a little drone in the cabin between 2000 and 2300 rpm I'm very happy with this mod.

Yep ebay, huuto.net, etc. The thing is that there is 2 importer of the exhaust in Finland and the 12158 and 12418 are special exhaust for them.
They don't have them in there stock. They will have to order it and it takes 3 months to get it. The price is only 98€ so about 125$, so it's not bad.
Ordering from ebay was my first idea, but then I will have to pay the shipping, taxes etc. so it will cost a lot.
Also I don't know exactly wich one is easier to install and what size are the pipes in the OEM exhaust. If you have an answer for it, be my guest and tell me.
Is there some modification that needs to be done or other parts to be bought to install that exhaust?

Waldig, do you have placed on youtube or somewhere else a video clip of the sound?
I don't really think that it's a legal set up. They are really really strickt on changing the parts of the car here in Finland. I don't even think that palcing a magnaflow muffler is autorized legally. It should be always OEM parts.... Stupid law.

Someone sent me a PM this morning questioning the pricing on the Magnaflow muffler I installed, sorry I must have accidently deleted it. But if you do a Google Search you'll find that the 12158 stainless 2.5 inch in/out sells for anywhere from 73 to 158 US dollars !!! Your choice !
Do take into account this does not include shipping and if you live overseas...............

Sounds like i will have to wait 3 months to install the exhaust.
At least it would be a totally different car from the other 3 xfires cabriolets from Finland and 10 coupes.
When I am driving it and waiting for the lights to change, a lot of people come to ask me: what car is this???
Some people think that it is a new cabriolet from Bentley.... Sounds maybe stupid but close to no one has ever seen that car. Chrysler was selling it in 2004 for maybe 6 months and then took it of the market in Finland. It was too expensive with the taxes and VAT. Even more expensive than the Porsche Boxter. It was sold at a price of 80.000€ so converting it to $ :
109 355.00$...... Which is a lot....
I bought that one for 54.000$ and it is the only 2007 Xfire in Finland
Quite an expensive car here
